Spirit Power is one of the main stats in Deadlock that scales as games go on and decides how most abilities perform. Spirit Power can affect many things depending on the ability and character, so we will teach you what it is, its importance, and how you can have more to win your Deadlock games.
Spirit Power is a stat much like your character’s health, stamina, and weapon damage. It’s visible at the bottom left of the buy menu, above the purple section, where Spirit Items you might have bought in the shop are displayed. You can hover over the Spirit section in the buy menu, which brings up all Spirit Power-related things. Hovering over Spirit Power Impact will give you a breakdown of where your Spirit Power comes from, whether it's Golden Statues, Items, or a Character-Specific Mechanic.

Some characters want to lean more on Gun Items like Haze, whereas others, like Lady Geist, want to lean more into Spirit. No matter what, you should still learn about it to understand why the Infernus is suddenly burning you for so much of your HP or how your character can benefit even if you might not think they need it.
What Does Spirit Power Affect?
Spirit Power affects a variety of characters' abilities in different ways. Some benefit way more than others, like Seven, who gets movement speed, and Warden, who gets Fire Rate. The easiest way to tell is to look for the purple star that appears whenever you hold ALT while looking at an ability’s description. In some cases, other aspects of the ability are affected, like Haze’s ult duration, which is also affected by Spirit Power. In most cases, the central element of an ability affected by Spirit Power will be the ability’s damage. For example, Dynamo’s Kinetic Pulse has a 1.4x multiplier, meaning it will gain an additional 1.4 damage for every Spirit Power he possesses.
Every character scales with Spirit in one way or another, even Haze, who builds mainly weapon damage scales with Spirit for her ammo and abilities. As evident by the purple star above her ammo, Haze’s ammo gives her +1 max bullet for every 2 Spirit Power she possesses.
How Do You Get More Spirit Power?
The best way to get Spirit Power is by purchasing Spirit items in the purple section of the shop. If you’re looking for raw spirit power, look no further than the aptly titled “Extra Spirit” and its upgrades “Improved Spirit” and “Boundless Spirit.” Those items provide 10/30/65 Spirit Power, respectively, with an additional 4/8/16 bonus, depending on their tier in the item shop. While the amount alone makes these items strong, this doesn’t even consider the additional buffs they provide. Other than Spirit items, certain Weapon and Vitality items also provide Spirit Power, don’t be afraid to check out the effects of the items you’re buying. One of the standout non-Spirit items that provide buffs is the weapon item aptly named “Spiritual Overflow,” which, when built up by shooting an enemy, provides a whopping +50 Spirit Power.
Other than buying Spirit Items, the only other ways to increase your Spirit Power are through random Golden Statue Buffs and the Jungle Buffs that spawn in between the sidelines at 15 minutes. The Golden Statues spawn after 3 minutes and start giving +2 Spirit Power before escalating to +3 at the 10-minute mark before escalating one last time at the 30-minute mark to +5 Spirit Power. You and your team can also obtain these buffs by destroying the Slot Machines found in each team’s Jungle, and they are also given out to everyone when their team secures an urn delivery. The final way Spirit Power can be obtained is from the Jungle Buffs that spawn every 15 minutes. While only active for 3 minutes, these are pretty powerful, and one of the buffs they can give can provide +25 Spirit Power.
Which Characters Have Base Stats That Scale With Spirit Power?
Gray Talon is the primary character who scales some of his base stats with Spirit Power. As seen in the image above, with Boundless Spirit alone, he gains 3.4m/s Movement Speed and 11 Bullet Damage. Gray Talon is currently the only character who has a unique way of acquiring Spirit Power. If Gray Talon gets a kill or an assist with his ult, he gains five permanent Spirit Power. Gray Talon scales his movement speed (x0.032) and gun damage (x0.12) with Spirit Power.
Other characters who scale are Seven (Movement Speed x0.023), Haze (Ammo x0.5), Vindicta (Fire Rate x0.006), Warden (Fire Rate x0.012), Wraith (Sprint Speed x0.06) and Yamato (Ammo x0.15). Though many of these numbers appear small, you will notice them late-game.
What If My Character Doesn’t Rely On It?
Even a character like Abrams, who relies primarily on gun items and has no base stats that scale with Spirit Power, buys Spirit items. You should get them anyway because even if your character does not scale well with them, they go into their own item slot separate from your Vitality and Weapon items, and some can still be useful no matter who you’re playing as or fighting. Decay is only 1,250 and is an excellent anti-heal option for tanky characters like Abrams or Shiv.
Curse is a fantastic option for shutting down whoever the “carry” on the enemy team is, as it turns off their abilities and items for a few seconds. Ethereal Shift is like Zhonya's in League or Mei's Ice Block in Overwatch, giving you a few seconds of invulnerability and allowing you to take a breather. Another classically useful one is Knockdown, comedically dropping an anvil on your opponents, which is always funny to see, especially when a Gray Talon or Vindicta is flying in the air only to come crashing down.
Conclusion
Spirit Power is a core mechanic in Deadlock, and it is required to learn how the game works and how characters scale. Now, hopefully, you understand what makes characters that rely on their abilities do all the damage they do.
