Artifact Upgrade Flow Chart: when should you upgrade or stop?
Artifact Tier List: Which set is the best use of your resin?
Artifact Basics
Artifacts are the main way to boost your character's stats, working alongside the raw base stats the character gains from levels, as well as the weapons you equip.
Types of Artifacts
- Flower: Always gives flat HP.
- Feather: Always gives flat Attack.
- Sands: Can give different stats like HP%, Attack%, Defense%, Energy Recharge, or Elemental Mastery.
- Goblet: Can provide Elemental Damage (like Pyro, Geo) HP%, Attack%, Defense%, or Elemental Mastery.
- Circlet: Can give Critical Rate, Critical Damage, HP%, Attack%, Defense%, Elemental Mastery, and Healing Bonus.
Each artifact also has up to four additional stats called substats.
Set Bonuses
- Equip two pieces from the same set for a two-piece bonus and four pieces for a four-piece bonus.
Using Resin
- Resin is a limited resource. Before AR45, don't worry about artifacts at all. After AR45, aim for 5-star artifacts with the right main stats and set bonuses to maximize efficiency (see artifact tier list, specific character guides, and the full video for more info)
Strong Box and Transmuter
- Use the Strong Box to exchange unwanted artifacts for potentially better ones. The Artifact Transmuter lets you create artifacts with chosen desired main stat as well as 2 desired substats. See later section for a detailed breakdown.
Off Pieces
It's almost always useful to equip an artifact from a different set if it has great stats. For example, an Elemental Damage Goblet is often the most valuable and hardest to get with good stats, but a Sands or a Circlet is often a great choice as well.
Evaluating Artifacts
Substat Rolls
Artifacts have varying quality in their substats. For example, Critical Rate can have low rolls (2.7%) or high rolls (3.9%). Higher rolls generally mean better stats.
Crit Value
One quick metric to help find out how good an artifact is for crit-focused characters, calculate Crit Value: double the Crit Rate and add the Crit Damage. Aim for around 30 Crit Value on average across your artifacts, with more focus on getting good feather and flower and being more lenient with sands and goblet.
Useful Rolls
Look at the number of useful rolls on an artifact. More high-value stats like Crit Rate, Crit Damage are great, but don't ignore ATK% for attack based characters, DEF% for defence based characters, HP% for HP Based characters, ER needs, or Elemental Mastery, etc. Refer to specific character guides to learn useful rolls for a particular unit.
Resource Management
Even if an artifact isn’t perfect, it can still be useful. Balance your resources and focus on getting artifacts that best suit your characters.
Artifact Transmuter
What is the Artifact Transmuter?
The Artifact Transmuter allows you craft an artifact in your desired set, with your desired main stat and two desired substat, for the cost of 1 to 4 sanctifying elixers, depending on the artifact.
How Does it Work?
To use the Artifact Transmuter, you need Sanctifying Elixirs. Currently it seems you can get up to four per game update (patch), although this might change in the future. You can get one from recycling previously levelled artifacts, two from map exploration, and one from the paid version of the battle pass.
Crafting Artifacts
You can use the Elixir to create a new artifact. You can choose the main stat and two substats for this artifact.
Costs:
- Goblets: 4 Elixirs
- Sands: 2 Elixirs
- Circlets: 3 Elixirs
- Feathers and Flowers: 1 Elixir each
Recommendations:
- Goblets and Sands are usually the best options for using the Artifact Transmuter because they’re harder to farm with desired stats. Sands have an advantage in that they are cheap to craft, while goblets are very hard to acquire and so can be more worth it for that reason.
- Circlets are less recommended due to their high RNG involved in rolling the artifact iself, making it a less efficient use of Elixirs, and the relatively high cost of 3 elixers.
- Feathers and Flowers are not worth using the transmuter on since their main stats are fixed and easier to farm.
Strategic Use
Consider Your Needs: Decide which artifact type (Goblet, Sands, or Circlet) will give you the biggest boost. If you have good Feathers and Flowers but need a better Goblet or Sands, focus on those.
Account Specific
Your ultimate choice should be based on which characters need the upgrade most and which artifacts will improve their performance. See full video for my personal example.
Farming Tips
Use Lower-Level Artifacts (ideally level 4): When sacrificing levelled-up artifacts for Elixirs, use lower-level pieces to be more efficient. Try stick to level 4 pieces, and avoid using level 20 pieces.
