Video Guide:
Welcome to this comprehensive guide on Varesa, the upcoming five-star Electro character from Natlan. Varesa seems to be a plunging attack main D.P.S. Varesa wields a catalyst and comes with a unique set of abilities that blend agility, powerful attacks, and Nightsoul.Whether you are looking to deal heavy damage or maneuver gracefully around the battlefield, Varesa has the tools to excel in both offense and mobility. Let’s dive into everything you need to know to master her playstyle.
For Varesa’s ability level priority, first level her elemental skill, second her elemental burst, and lastly her basic attack.
For Varesa’s artifact set, you want to use the new plunging attack artifact set. Its two piece set effect increases plunging attack damage by twenty five percent. Whereas, its four piece set effect says that whenever Varesa's Plunging Attack, Charged Attack, or Elemental Skill hits an enemy, she gains stacks of the Everlasting Radiance effect. Each type of attack grants a different amount of stacks—one stack for Plunging Attacks, two stacks for Charged Attacks, and two stacks for Elemental Skills. The effect can be triggered once per second with each attack type. Everlasting Radiance works by increasing the damage of Varesa's Plunging Attacks, with each stack boosting the damage by fifteen percent for six seconds. The stacks can accumulate up to five times, and each stack’s duration is calculated independently, allowing for significant damage boosts during extended combat sequences. This effect encourages a strategic approach to chaining her attacks and maximizing the damage potential of her Plunging Attacks.
For Varesa's sands, use attack percent. For her goblet, use either electro damage percent or attack percent. For her circlet, use either critical rate or critical damage percent.
For Varesa's energy recharge requirements, aim for around two hundred to two hundred fifty percent as a solo electro character.
For Varesa's substat priority, prioritize energy recharge until the optimal requirement, then prioritize critical rate and critical damage percent, aiming for a one to two crit ratio, next prioritize attack percent, and lastly, flat attack.
For Varesa's weapon, obviously her five-star signature catalyst is the best for her. Varesa's signature weapon, Rainbow's Wish, is designed to further enhance her Plunging Attack damage and overall offensive potential. The weapon provides an attack increase of twenty-eight percent. Additionally, Rainbow's Wish has two key effects that directly benefit her Plunging Attacks: First Light's Color: When performing a Plunging Attack, this effect increases the Critical Damage of Plunging Attacks by twenty eight percent. Evening Glow's Radiance: After casting an Elemental Skill or Elemental Burst, Varesa gains this effect, increasing her Critical Damage for Plunging Attacks by forty percent. Both of these effects last for fifteen seconds, giving you plenty of time to chain Plunging Attacks and deal significant damage. However, these effects are removed zero point zero five seconds after Plunging Attack damage is dealt, so it’s essential to make the most out of the time granted by these buffs, timing your Plunging Attacks strategically.
If you have Xianyun’s signature weapon, Crane's Echoing Call, you can use that as a replacement for Varesa's signature. Otherwise, use Skyward Atlas if you have it. A four-star battle pass catalyst that Varesa can use is Solar Pearl. A four-star gacha catalyst that Varesa can use is The Widsith. A four-star craftable catalyst that Varesa can use is Ring of Yaxche.
If you are a dolphin or a low spender and want to decide between Varesa’s constellation one and her five-star signature catalyst, I would recommend pulling her constellation one first because her rainbow plunge effect increases plunging attack damage by fifty percent even if she is not in her fiery passion state, whereas her signature weapon only increases critical damage of plunging attack damage. This is also her constellation stopping point.
For Varesa's teams, she can be played with Xianyun, Furina, and Bennet. Xilonen and Iansan can replace them, respectively. Varesa can also be played in double geo with Zhongli, Chiori, and Xianyun. Shielder replacements include Layla, Lan Yan, and Yanfei. Quickbloom teammates include Nahida, Furina, and Ororon. For aggravate, replace Furina with Kazuha or Sucrose. Kirara can also replace Nahida. Varesa can also be used in a Chevreuse Overload team with Bennett and Fischl or Iansan and Ororon.
Varesa's basic attacks are an essential part of her kit. Her normal attack allows her to perform up to three consecutive strikes, dealing Electro damage to enemies. These strikes are simple yet effective, and they set the stage for her more complex abilities. When you charge her normal attack, Varesa consumes stamina to perform a headbutt, dealing Electro damage and triggering a special effect called Nightsoul's Blessing. This blessing propels Varesa into the air, and as you master her movement, this mechanic becomes a key to her aerial mobility.
Her plunging attack is where things get even more interesting. When Varesa descends from the air, she strikes the ground, dealing A.O.E. Electro damage along her path. This attack does more than just damage, though. Each time Varesa hits an enemy with this attack, she gains twenty-five Nightsoul points. Once she reaches the maximum amount, she enters a state known as Fiery Passion. In Fiery Passion, her normal, charged, and plunging attacks are enhanced to deal even more damage, turning her into a force to be reckoned with.
The real beauty of Varesa’s kit lies in her ability to manage and make use of these Nightsoul points. When you are in combat, Varesa can trigger the Fiery Passion state by performing plunging attacks or using her Elemental Burst, Brilliant Descent! When she is in Fiery Passion, her attacks are significantly more powerful, and she can unleash a devastating special Elemental Burst following a Plunging Attack. To really maximize her potential, you need to be strategic about when to build up and unleash her Nightsoul points, as this is the key to dealing massive damage.
Let’s talk about Varesa’s Elemental Skill, which is designed to mirror the agile and fierce nature of a wrestler. By tapping her Elemental Skill, Varesa dashes forward, dealing Electro damage to enemies in her path. This skill also grants her twenty Nightsoul points and triggers a special effect known as Pursuit, which temporarily increases her interruption resistance and allows you to perform a charged attack without consuming stamina. If you hold the Elemental Skill, Varesa enters the Nightsoul's Blessing state and switches to Rapid Advance mode, where she consumes Nightsoul points continuously but gains enhanced movement speed and can even leap over terrain or cross water.
The best part? In specific zones within Natlan, Varesa has an additional mechanic that ties into the area’s Phlogiston. While using food items, she can restore Phlogiston points, helping her maintain Rapid Advance mode longer. This synergy with the environment means Varesa’s mobility becomes even more impressive in certain areas.
Varesa’s Elemental Burst, Brilliant Descent!, is a spectacular attack that showcases her true power. She leaps into the air and delivers a massive flying kick that deals A.O.E. Electro damage to all nearby enemies. This ability also fully restores her Nightsoul points and automatically triggers the Fiery Passion state, setting her up for her next devastating combo. But the fun does not stop there—when she is in the Fiery Passion state, her Elemental Burst gets even stronger, dealing increased damage. After performing a Plunging Attack, she enters Limit Drive, a state that boosts her interruption resistance and allows her to perform a special, high-damage Plunging Attack with reduced energy cost.
The Limit Drive effect is critical in maintaining Varesa’s dominance on the battlefield. In this state, you can chain multiple Plunging Attacks without worrying about cooldowns or interruptions. It’s a game-changing ability that lets you keep up the pressure on your enemies without missing a beat.
To make the most of Varesa’s kit, her passive talents and constellations add even more depth. One notable passive, Rainbow Plunge, boosts the damage of her Plunging Attacks by twenty five percent for five seconds after using her Elemental Skill. When she’s in Fiery Passion, this damage boost increases to fifty percent, making her Plunging Attacks even more powerful. Another talent, Nightsoul Burst, increases her attack power by thirty percent when nearby party members trigger their own Nightsoul Burst effects, making her an excellent team player in Natlan-focused team compositions.
As for Varesa’s constellations, they enhance her abilities even further. Constellation one, for example, improves her Rainbow Plunge effect, increasing the Plunging Attack damage boost to fifty percent regardless of her state. This also adds a thirty five percent attack increase when entering or exiting Fiery Passion. Constellation two takes things up a notch by allowing Varesa to enter the Limit Drive state automatically after performing a Plunging Attack, and it restores eleven point five Energy each time her Plunging Attack hits. Constellation six is especially powerful—it restores thirty Energy when Varesa enters Limit Drive and boosts her critical rate and critical damage for her Plunging Attacks and Elemental Burst.
