This is a tool to learn what is the main objective of all toplane roles, what is their playstyle and how to counter their role

(Fighters and Duelists)

All of them have the same objective: Get a lead by themselves. They use this lead to: Splitpush/Snowball/Waste jungler-midlaner's tempo

-Fighters-

Playstyle:

They have little mobility, but they have high hp and high damage, especially when they have R. In most cases, they can take
good trades with CC, shields or healing and they are good at extended fights.

Some of these are good at taking towers or poking, but it's not the case on all of them.

They will try to engage you into extended trades with conqueror, using their ultimate in order to win the fight and get ahead.

When ahead, they will expand their lead by getting more resources than you.

They want to waste your jungler/midlaner's tempo, because they can win 2v1 with 1 item and R if they are ahead.

When they are behind, they will try to fight you with R, trying to 1v1 you and make a comeback to the game.

[THE BEST WAY TO DEAL WITH FIGHTERS]

DO NOT TAKE EXTENDED TRADES

Punish them early game, when they waste their spells, since most of them have long cooldowns on their key abilities (Renekton
W, Sett W, Illaoi E, Volibear E, Urgot E, Garen W, Mordekaiser W)

Before trading, you should try to bait/dodge their main ability to get an even better trade if they don't have their key ability
(Renekton Q, Sett Q, Illaoi W and Q, Volibear W, Urgot W, Garen Q and E, Mordekaiser Q).

They don't have enough mobility to escape ganks. Make your jungler gank early to get a lead and stomp the early game.

* IF THEY HAVE THEIR KEY ABILITY ON COOLDOWN AND THEY WASTE THEIR MAIN ABILITY, YOU MUST TRADE (pre 6).

* WATCHOUT FOR THEIR ULTIMATE. IF THEY ARE LOSING THE FIGHT, THEY CAN OUTPLAY YOU BY PRESSING R

How to counter pick fighters:

[RANGED CHAMPION WITH MOBILITY]

Since they don't have many ways to reach you, if you can space them with a ranged champion like VAYNE or KENNNEN, you can
poke them for free and they won't be able to trade you back.

[PICK A SPECIFIC LANE COUNTER MATCHUP]

You will have to figure out what fighters do you counter with your champions. For example, Garen is countered by ranged
champions and by Camille, but isn't countered by Gwen (both of this champions are duelists)

-DUELISTS-

Playstyle:

They have great mobility and damage, but low hp at the early stages of the game. Their main ability has low cooldown
and they will trade you slowly until they can all in you and kill you.

They are great at 1v1 because they can reach you with their mobility and at splitpushing since they can escape with their
mobility too.

They need to get ahead of their matchup so they can snowball their lead and stomp the game by getting more gold than
anyone else in the game.

Most of this champions benefit a lot from having more gold than their lane oponents, meaning that they can expand very easily
their lead if they get ahead.

   * Snowballing a lead means using your advantage to get more resources from the map than your lane oponent (Get a lead to
get good trades, get good trades to be able to proxy, proxy to get tempo, use tempo to roam or steal jungle camps, get a kill
while roaming to get more gold or steal jungle camps to get more gold and recall to spend your goal into items and get a
bigger lead).

[THE BEST WAY TO DEAL WITH DUELISTS]

DO NOT SCREW YOUR LANE, YOU WON'T COME BACK

Your jungler takes a great place at winning against Duelists. They can't 2v1 when they don't have a lead so shutting them down
before they can out trade you is a great strategy (Be sure they can't escape, so bait their movement ability like Camilles E
before your jungler's gank).

They have/will have great waveclear after tiamat, so be aware of priority early game and ping your teammates for any possible
roam and be sure to push sidelane at mid/late game so that a sneaky splitpusher doesn't destroy your nexus while fighting for a
drake/baron.

Most of the time, Duelist players are very good micro players and they know their champ. Don't underestimate them.

In most cases, getting the same amount of gold will be good. Try to farm as much as possible without taking trades while you
don't have your jungler topside since most duelists have really good trades or a way to heal themselves.

* Do not get to low hp, they can easily dive you.

* Do not greed for plates. Most of the time they can take more plates than you, so make sure that you can get back to your
tower before they can hit it.

How to counterpick Duelists:

[Neutralizers]

This champions are insane at laning vs duelists, since they can waveclear/poke/out trade/counter specific duelists and their
purpose.

(Poppy hard counters Camille/Fiora/Irelia with her's W, she doesn't let them escape ganks or outplay her. Maphite out trades
Tryndamere/Pantheon/Briar with his Passive and Chainvest, making it impossible for this duelists to trade against him and
Gragas can waveclear/poke duelists like Gwen/Yasuo/Yone, and he has sustain with his passive)

[Tanks]

Tanks don't need a gold lead to work, but a great source of DPS Carry. Although Yone/Fiora can counter certain tanks,
thats because they didn't have an equal laning phase.

In laning phase, you must buy thornmail first and start taking trades whenever you can try landing CC or have your shield up.
If you get your duelist to low hp before they can heal themselves, you will create a lead over them by denying them cs/killing
them/making them take bad recalls.
