NEW Pikachu as a One Hit Finisher.
A new Pikachu EX was released… and nobody’s playing it!
With 120 HP, Pikachu’s Thunderbolt attack deals 150 damage for 3 energy. For a basic pokemon this is absurd, which is why the price to pay for such an attack is Pikachu discarding all of its energy.
Unlike the old Pikachu, who is meant to be attacking early on, the new Pikachu’s design serves a completely different purpose.
The NEW Pikachu EX is meant to be a one hit finisher.
Today’s deck is a Magnezone line up specifically teched against Druddigon, which aims to score points with Magnezones Thunder Blast to then end the game with an all powerful Thunderbolt. Rotom allows us to counter Druddigon leads, wearing down our opponent’s win conditions to put them at Thunderbolt range. To potentially enable Pikachu faster, we run the good old Magneton Dawn combo, which allows us to ramp energy onto Pikachu, and go for a surprise Thunderbolt for the win. Since we want to develop Magneton as soon as possible, a full set of Iono allows us to more consistently do just that.
Our Ranked climb so far has been Wugtrio to Great Ball, Tinkaton to high Great Ball and now we’ll finish the push with Pikachu EX so that we can land in Ultra Ball. Where the real grind begins.
We’ll take today’s deck and fare off against the meta, to not only achieve Ultra Ball Rank, but to also earn our stay.
