Is Dragonite broken now!?
What if I told you Dragonite is one of the best decks in the game? Ever since Genetic Apex, Dragonite caught the attention of players worldwide, being the first card that requires 2 different types of energy in order to attack in Pokemon Pocket. Unfortunately, since its inception, Dragonite has been deemed a meme. Being a stage 2 evolution and having an attack that not only requires 4 energy, but 2 different sources, led to a serious lack of consistency. You can spend the entire game building up Dragonite and still fail to score 3 points with back to back Draco Meteor attacks. And then Dragonite would go down, leaving you wide open for retaliation. So…
What changed?
There’s this new pokemon, you probably haven’t heard about it, a fringe, underplayed basic which ramps up energy onto itself, to then eventually threaten the enemy with 130 damage. We’ve seen Giratina in all sorts of decks, but few people know how incredibly good of a partner it is for Dragonite. As we can build both Dragonite and Giratina simultaneously, to unleash an end game so powerful… no deck can handle it. I’m not clickbaiting here, this deck is top tier.
Today’s deck calls upon three dragons, we focus on slowing the game down early to build up two powerhouses, Draco Meteor twice and then send in Giratina for the finish. We lead off with Druddigon, or pivot onto him, build up the Dragonite evolution line while also clicking on Space-Time Bellow. Send in Dragonite, ideally with a Giant Cape, Draco Meteor twice to score 2 points, and then leave the opponent’s board at range for Giratina’s Chaotic Impact to end the game. Pivoting is key here, which is why we run 1 copy of X Speed and a full set of Leaf. Double Giant Cape is our tool of choice here, as we can enhance Dragonite’s already impressive bulk to ensure he can tank one hit, so that the second Draco Meteor is inevitable.
We brick? Iono man, let’s draw a new hand and find what we need.
This deck is so good it’s actually kind of scary. After a total of 20 games, I ended up with a 82 percent winrate in Master Ball Rank. That 's ridiculous.
