How to Play Syndicate — TFT Set 14: Cyber City

Syndicate returns to TFT but in a different form than in the past however with some familiar faces such as Twisted Fate, Braun, and Shaco.

This Syndicate functions a bit differently as for each trait threshold you gain a Kingpin hat which gives unique upgrades to Syndicate champion’s ability.

As a result, he trait ismore flexible and makes players play around the Kingpin hats and choose which abilities to upgrade.

This makes reroll available with extra power that can be put into the selected unit.

How TFT Syndicate Works

Syndicate Trait Bonus

Get a Kingpin hat that uniquely upgrades a Syndicate champion’s ability. Syndicate champions gain Health and Damage Amp.

  • (3) 100 Health, 5% DA, 1 Kingpin

  • (5) 450 Health, 20% DA, 2 Kingpins

  • (7) 600 Health, 30% DA, Upgrade Kingpin effect

Syndicate Synergy

Here are the additional traits of the Syndicate champions that give the opportunity to create trait webs:

  • Shaco (1G) – Slayer

  • Darius (2G) – Bruiser

  • Twisted Fate (2G) – Rapidfire

  • Braum (3G) – Vanguard

  • Miss Fortunei (4G) – Dynamo

Syndicate Trait

Syndicates have 5 champions to choose from with 3 of them being one or two gold champions. On top of this, it does not have a 5 cost unit with its trait.

In most cases, I expect this trait to benefit from rerolling (3 starring) a champion and using the Kingpin hat to buff the ability. I also expect this trait to often be played with 5 or 7 traits.

The jump from 3 to 5 with the trait is large with a lot of extra health, a ton of extra damage amp, as well as the additional hat. Rerolling Shaco or Twisted Fate and either a front liner or another carry is what I expect to see for this reason.

Miss Fortune’s Dynamo trait is a solid late game trait, so I expect Syndicate comps to round out their comps with Dynamo units especially Aurora.

TFT Syndicate Champions

Shaco (1G) – Slayer

Shaco has a passive that gives him (AD) physical damage for each kill he gets in the game. His active deals additional physical damage to the current the target.

His Kingpin bonus is to teleport behind the lowest health enemy with four hexes and deal bonus physical damage additional bonus physical damage immediately cast again with an extra percent damage.

This makes Shaco a unit you want to find and 2 star in the early game with an item so he can start stacking up additional AD through his passive. Then with Kingpin bonus he can become a real threat throughout the game.

The Slayer trait also gives him additional AD and even Omnivamp giving him additional survivabiliy throughout the game.

Darius (2G) – Bruiser

Darius is a bruiser who heals (AP & Health) health, then gains 2 (AD) physical damage and a percent sunder to enemies within 1 hex for 6 seconds.

His Kingpin bonus increases his ability range to additional hexes. The damage is reduced by 0.1% per hex away and he heals for each enemy hit.

This makes Darius a threat as a bruiser as he has sunder in his kit that allows him to amplify the team’s damage throughout the whole game – especially in the early game.

He also heals and hits multiple enemies which is often very impactful in the early game. I wouldn’t be surprised if Darius falls off in the late game as many reroll comps do, but it wouldn’t surprise me to see a Twisted Fate and Darius reroll duo in Syndicate this set.

Twisted Fate (2G) – Rapidfire

Twisted Fate has a unique passive where he gains AP for each attack. This synergizes well with his Rapidfire trait which helps him gain additional attack speed. His active is to throw a card at the current target that deals AP magic damage.

His Kingpin bonus is unique in that he gets the ability to throw all three special cards at three nearby enemies. The red card hits enemies in a one hex area. Blue deals additional damage as true damage while in rare cases a yellow card is thrown which grants gold.

This ability makes Twisted Fate a prime target to reroll in the Syndicate trait. Throw in a Rapidfire unit and Twisted Fate will be sure to roll odds in your favor. On top of this, he is likely a Guinsoo user due to his stacking AP ability which is always fun!

Braum (3G) – Vanguard

Braum is a three cost Vanguard who gains (AP & Health) shield for four seconds.

When it breaks, he deals additional magic damage to three enemies and chills them for three seconds. His Kingpin bonus is unique in that it gives additional armor, magic resistance everyone couple of seconds.

For every attack he lands he does a percent armor, magic, resistance, and health as magic damage to the enemy. Due to Braum being the highest cost tank unit in the comp, often times he will be paired with Leona who is also a Vanguard and has utility that supports the other Syndicate units.

Miss Fortune (4G) – Dynamo

Miss Fortune is a four cost Dynamo who fires eight waves of bullets towards the largest clump of enemies over two seconds. Enemies struck take a (AD) physical damage from the first bullet of each wave and a percent less from the other bullets in the same wave.

Her Kingpin bonus is a fire three extra waves of bullets. Unfortunately, Miss Fortune has the most boring bonus of the Syndicate units as she just some additional waves to her ability.

I don’t expect Miss Fortune to become a core piece of this trait as she is a higher cost unit and most of the Syndicates are low cost. I think she will more likely be a trait bot for the Dynamo and Syndicate traits while the real heroes Twisted Fate and Shaco shine.
