Support Xilonen Detailed Guide [Build, Artifact, Weapon, Playstyle, Character Options, Team Comp] Genshin Impact 5.1
Introduction
Xilonen is a highly versatile support that you can slot in, in almost every team. As long as there are at least 2 of the PHEC (Pyro/Hydro/Electro/Cryo) units in the team with her, she'll decrease surrounding enemies' Elemental RES. Her whole kit scales with DEF, so maximixing DEF stat will be your best option.
Building her is pretty simple, but there're a few things you need to keep in mind to not get things wrong.
Xilonen shines the most as a support while having the option to be an On-Field DPS. This guide will focus more on building her as a Support.
How does Xilonen's Source Samples work?
When Xilonen enters her Nightsoul mode (via Skill or Nightsoul Transmission), she starts with 3 Geo Samples. This is the case even if she the only character in the team.
Her Source Sample will change to any of the PHEC Elements (Pyro/Electro/Hydro/Cryo), according to your party members' elements. So if you have 2 Pyro and 1 Hydro in your party, her Source Samples will change accordingly.
Her Source Sample cannot change to Anemo or Dendro. So if you have 2 Electro and 1 Dendro/Anemo in your party, 2 of the Source Sample will change to Electro while the last one will stay Geo.
When the Source Samples are activated via her Passive "Netotiliztli's Echoes,” nearby opponents will have their Elemental RES reduced according to the Source Samples' Element(s). So, Pyro Sample -> Pyro RES reduction; Hydro Sample -> Hydro RES reduction; etc. The effect of 2 Samples from the same Elements will not stack, and will have the same RES shred as 1 Sample of them.
Nightsoul Mode Passive and Burst
Xilonen's Nightsoul Mode Passive and Burst has 2 different effects/ability. This effect/ability depends on your team composition, and this will change her role in the team.
- IF you have at least 2 of your Source Sample changed (basically if you have at least 2 PHEC characters in the team), Xilonen will be a Buffer/Healer Support.
- In Nightsoul Mode, hitting her Normal Attack will give Xilonen 35 Nightsoul Points. Once her Nightsoul Points reaches the max, remove all Nightsoul Points she has and activates all of her current Source Samples. This is the only way you can activate her Source Samples
- Her Burst will heal your current active character(character(s) on the field) at an interval, lasting for 12 seconds. This heal will only start after the initial hit, not with it.
- IF you have less than 2 of your Source Sample changed (basically if you have less 2 PHEC characters in the team), Xilonen will be more of a Normal Attack DPS or Sub DPS.
- In Nightsoul Mode, she will gain 30% Normal Attack Damage increase. She won't get any Nightsoul Points, in this case.
- Her Burst will do 2 more hits, with the same scalling as the first one
Note: Outside of C6, her On-Field DPS potential is not so great, but can still perform well enough with proper artifacts and teams.
Talent Priority
Skill > Burst > Lvl 90 > NA
Xilonen’s RES Shred scales with her Skill. So leveling it should be your number 1 priority.
Her healing comes from her burst. So level it up until her healing is at a comfortable rate.
Leveling Xilonen to 90 will her some more DEF, which is where her healing scales from. But leveling Xilonen to 90 should be a lower priority than your DPS, especially if you don't have that much EXP books.
There's no need to level her NA at all. Unless you're planning to use her as an On-Field DPS or Sub-DPS.
Combo Rotation
Standard Combo
Apply Any PHEC Element > Skill > NA 2x
Standard Combo w/ Burst
Apply Any PHEC Element > Skill > Burst > NA 2x
If using Furina
Burst > Furina's Burst > Skill > NA 2x
Xilonen Weapon Options
Peak Patrol Song
Her signature "Peak Patrol Song" is without a doubt, her BiS weapon. Increasing her DEF and buffing the team's damage scaling with her DEF.
Favonius Sword
If you're not pulling for her signature (good for you). Favonius Sword will be a great options for Xilonen.
Flute of Ezpitzal
If you don't have a Favonius Sword to spare, you can craft the new Natlan craftable sword Flute of Ezpitzal for Xilonen. As it'll give a lot of DEF for her.
Freedom-Sworn
While this sword doesn't benefit Xilonen directly, but it'll benefit your team with the buff from the passive.
Xilonen Artifacts
4-Piece Scroll gets to activate its full potential when used by a Natlan character. This means it's perfect to use on a Support like Xilonen. The 2-Piece also helps lower the amount of ER% you need to burst every rotation.
Main Stats
Sands - ER% or DEF%
Goblet - DEF%
Circlet - DEF% or Healing Bonus% or Crit Rate (if using Favonius)
Sub Stats
- ER%
- Crit Rate% (if using Favonius)
- DEF%
- Flat DEF
Substat aren't super important on Xilonen, so prioritize getting this 4-Piece Set ASAP.
General Team Compostition
Generally, Xilonen should be paired up with 2 PHEC(Pyro/Hydro/Electro/Cryo) character and any character (Flex). She's a flexible support that can fit to most team, with similar role as a 4-Piece VV Anemo support. Instead, she utilizes the 4-Piece Scroll to buff your team's Elemental Damage.
She can also heal a considarable amount with her Burst, so you don't need to bring another healer and can instead have the 3rd slot be extra support or extra DPS.
Team Example
Characters Synergy with Xilonen Ranked
Synergy Ranking Details
S-Tier
Kazuha - While they might fill the same role of reducing Elemental RES and buffing Elemental DMG, their buffs and debuffs comes from different sources, so they can stack. Basically doubling the buff. Kazuha also has some grouping, of which Xilonen doesn't have.
Mualani - Probably a DPS that gets the most value from Xilonen. On top of the RES shred and Elemental DMG Bonus, the extra Nightsoul Burst from Xilonen's A4 Passive will give a lot of increased damage to Mualani. Mualani plays in a Vaporize teams either way, so Xilonen is guaranteed to get at least 2 PHEC Elements in the team.
Arlecchino - She does a lot of Pyro damage herself, and usually Arle plays in a Vaporize team with someone like Yelan. Xilonen will help with her RES shred on both Pyro and Hydro.
Zhongli - In a lot of teams, you can pair up Xilonen with Zhongli for the extra interruption resistance and extra RES shred.
Furina - Since Xilonen is also a healer, she naturally synergizes with Furina. Helping Furina build her Fanfare quicker.
Neuvillette - The RES shred and Elemental DMG Bonus will be really valuable to this already high DPS character. Neuvillette is usually paired up with Furina as well. Additionally, the Crystalize reaction from Xilonen will give Neuvillette a stack of his passive.
Lyney - Lyney Shines in a Mono Pyro Team. While a bow use might benefit more from having shields from Zhongli, Xilonen's RES shred still provides a big value to Mono Pyro Teams.
Navia - Since Navia usually plays in a Crystalize team with at least 2 Geo, you can use Xilonen as the 2nd Geo character and have 2 PHEC for her passive.
A-Tier
Sucrose - Sucrose can provide some grouping to help Xilonen, and can buff the team's EM, stacking with Xilonen's Buff.
Mona - You can fit Mona as a second support in the team for the Damage Taken Increase debuff.
Itto - Paired with Itto, which usually plays a Mono Geo Team (or at least 3 Geo) with Gorou, Xilonen will most likely be a Sub DPS. You'll need another character for sustain when fighting harder enemies.
Pyro DPS (Diluc, Yoimiya, Yanfei, etc) - These Pyro DPS generally plays in either Vaporize or Melt, and Xilonen will give a lot of value (by value I mean overall damage increase) for those teams with the RES Shred and 4-Piece Scroll Buff.
Pyro Sub DPS (Xiangling, Thoma, etc) - They don't synergize directly with Xilonen but usually with the Main DPSs that does with Xilonen.
Kachina - Having additional Natlan characters reduces Nightsoul Burst's cooldown. Along with Xilonen being able to trigger an extra Nightsoul Burst from her A4 Passive, you can use 2-Piece Scroll on Kachina to lower both their ER% requirement significantly.
Gorou - In a Mono Geo team, Gorous will give Xilonen (as a Sub DPS) increased DEF and Geo Damage.
Albedo - Albedo has DEF scalling on his kit, similar to Xilonen. Meaning they would work together in a Mono Geo team.
Childe - You can either play Childe in a Vaporize or Taser teams, Xilonen will be a good option as a Support in either teams. And if you for some reason is playing Xilonen as an On-Field DPS, Childe can increase her Normal Attack level by 1.
Yelan&Xingqiu - Synergizes with your Main DPS, usually in a Vaporize team. Their Main DPSs usually synergizes with Xilonen.
B-Tier
Bennett - While running another healer is useless with Xilonen already in the team. His Flat ATK buff will be beneficial for your Main DPS.
Electro Characters - Xilonen can be a really strong buffer in a Aggravate (w/ 2 Electro) and Electro-Charged team. They're placed lower than Pyro Characters for reason such as
- In Aggravate, Xilonen won't synergize with the Dendro character in the team.
- In Electro-Charged teams, Anemo skills that can absorb an element (Kazuha's, Sucrose's Burst, etc) might be better overall than having Xilonen.
**Ganyu, Kaeya, Chongyun, and Wrio ** - Cryo characters usually plays Freeze or Melt. These 4 characters are the ones that can play in a Melt team. Xilonen gives more damage increase and is easier to use in a Melt team.
Candace&Ayato - They can synergize with some Main DPS above. But they are currently very underused.
Noelle - As a Main DPS, she's the same as Itto, but needs stay on-field a lot longer.
Ningguang - As a Catalyst, she much prefers a Shielder like Zhongli as her partner.
Chiori - Xilonen does not provide a Geo Construct for Chiori. But they can still be paired together in a Mono Geo team.
Yunjin - Yunjin's burst can help Xilonen deal more damage with her Normal Attack, if you ever decide to use Xilonen as the on-field DPS
Venti - Venti can provide a lot of grouping and RES shred from 4-Piece VV. But it might be annoying to hit the enemy with Xilonen when they're in Venti's Burst.
C-Tier
Characters that has some synergy with Xilonen, but you have better options.
Anemo/Electro/Geo Traveler - They're just not that good to begin with. But you can use them still , especially Anemo traveler if you put 4-Piece VV on him.
Ayaka, Shenhe, and Rosaria - Xilonen does not provide much value to Freeze teams, which is where these 3 characters shines the most. But the Cryo RES reduction could still be nice.
Xianyun - Xianyun's healing is unnecessary since you already have Xilonen. But they can be used together in a plunge DPS team.
Kinich - Kinich gets a damage increase stack whenever a Nightsoul Burst happens. Xilonen triggers an extra Nightsoul Burst from her A4 Passive, but that's about it for Kinich.
D-Tier (No Synergy)
Characters here generally won't be useful if paired up with Xilonen, or only in certain circumstances.
Healers - Since Xilonen already heal a comfortable amount from her burst, adding another healer is completely unnecessary.
Dendro Characters - As mentioned before, Xilonen's buff won't affect dendro, so they will not synergize directly with Xilonen. They can still synergize with your Main DPS though, so you can put them in the third slot.
E-Tier (Anti-Synergy)
This tier is where putting Xilonen on the team will just make their damage worse compared to almost every other characters.
Anemo Carries/DPS - Xilonen does not buff Anemo in any way. Anemo carries usually play in a Mono Anemo team, so Xilonen will just lower your damage there.
Dendro Spread Carries - Same case with Anemo Carries. Dendro can't be buffed by Xilonen.
Physical Carries - It might not be specifically mentioned before, but Xilonen does not reduce enemies' Physical Resistance nor can you buff Physical damage with 4-Piece Scroll.
Nilou - Nilou teams only allows Hydro and Dendro characters. Otherwise, might as well not use Nilou.
Chevreuse - Chevreuse teams only allows Pyro and Electro characters. Otherwise, might as well not use her.
Team Examples [Some of my favorites]
One of the best DPS to use with Xilonen for her extra Nightsoul Burst.
Pairs well with Mualani for Vaporize
4-Piece Viridescent and his A4 Passive has always been really strong, and now stacks with Xilonen. You can replace him with either Zhongli or Sucrose
Her RES Shred and the 4-Piece Scroll buff provides a lot of damage for both Mualani and Xiangling.
Afterword&Conclusion
As I've mentioned before, Xilonen shines the most as a Support. She also seems to be a really flexible support, almost universal.
Xilonen has a part of her kit that opens up the possibility as an on-field DPS and a Sub DPS. Though this possibility is only seen more if you have her as a C6. At C0, her potential as an DPS just isn't as great with her as a Support.
So generally, it's much better if you build her as a Support at C0. Though again, don't hold yourself back if you really want her as a DPS.
