Gaming is real 5-star impostor.
Gaming is a 4-star Pyro Claymore character, who, upon release, was (and still is) the best on-field 4-star damage dealer in Genshin Impact. Even at constellation zero, with decent investment, Gaming outputs high damage per second to both single-target and multiple-target enemies, and at constellation six, Gaming will be on par to even the strongest 5-star on-field damage dealers.
Why should/shouldn't you build Gaming?
One of Gaming's advantages could potentially be a disadvantage for certain players. Gaming's power scales well with investment. Gaming will still perform well at a low constellation with subpar supports, but his constellations alongside certain 5-star characters and their constellations will be noticable strict upgrades for your Gaming.
Gaming benefits greatly from his constellations, notably his constellation four which lowers energy recharge requirement and his constellation six which immensely benefits Gaming's damage per second alongside increasing his range which makes AOE scenarios trivial for your Gaming.
Also, Gaming greatly benefits from 5-star supports. Gaming's current best team includes Xianyun, constellation six Bennett, and Furina. Replacing Furina with Xingqiu or Xianyun with Sucrose will considerably lower Gaming's damage per second. Even if one owns all three Xianyun, Bennett, and Furina, it might not even be possible to use them in certain scenarios such as: these characters are being used in the other side of Abyss, their element is not prohibited in the Imaginarium Theater, and these supports are not available in your Imaginarium Theater cast.
Additionally, Gaming is very tied to the fact that practically all his damage comes from amplifying reactions (Vaporize and Melt). Gaming still deals a significant amount of raw damage, but the opportunity cost of not capitalizing the fact that Gaming's plunges have no ICD I believe is not worth it. This issue of being not so flexible could be apparent in the Imaginarium theater when neither hydro or cryo is in rotation.
On the flip side, these just mean that Gaming has a high power ceiling. Those willing to invest in Gaming will be rewarded aptly.
Another potential issue is Gaming might be redudant for accounts that already have atleast one pyro damage dealer. What makes Gaming stand out among pyro carries though is his excellent AOE damage and his slower pyro application which makes forward melt possible.
How to build Gaming?
Here are my recommended artifacts, weapons, and teams for Gaming!
Gaming's most recommended sets
The set I recommend is MH because its domain is resin efficient and the 36% Crit Rate the set gives makes reaching the perfect 1:2 crit ratio much easier, but there is a case to be made for CW. CW technically is more damage for Gaming, but the strength of the MH is to be able to stack as much Crit Damage as possible without having to worry much of Crit Rate. So, MH will tend to let players have more Crit Damage than if they were to use CW. CW will be better for those who have more than enough Crit Rate from external sources such as: Crit Rate weapon, Cryo Resonance, Rosaria Passive, Gaming's C6, etc. In those cases, the player may stack as much Crit Damage as he can without worrying about Crit Rate; using MH will be redundant and its passive won't make a huge effect on DPS.
For both MH (Marechaussee Hunter) and CW (Crimson Witch of Flames), the recommended main stats for sands, goblet, and circlet are Elemental Mastery (Attack% is a bit worse for amplifying reactions), Pyro Damage Bonus, and Crit Rate/Crit Damage respectively.
Best Weapons
At R5, Gaming only needs two or three stacks of the Serpent Spine passive to outperform every other 4-star claymores and even the 5-star weapons in damage.
Gaming's Best Teammates (not in order)
Team Compositions
Gaming's strongest team in terms of Gaming's personal damage.
Bennett is crucial for massive attack buff for Gaming and with the instructors set, Bennett will also be able to buff Gaming's EM.
Xianyun is perfect for this team for her plunge damage bonus and her ability to wield the Viridescent Venerer set for elemental resistance shred.
Furina is perfect for Gaming. Furina is an excellent off-field Hydro applier and damage dealer and her buffs will skyrocket Gaming and the Team's overall DPS.
Gaming Techs
This section is aimed to help players truly maximize Gaming and his teammate's damage output!
MH Passive Stacking
Gaming's burst has a huge multiplier of 787% at talent level 13 (c5) so it's important that this hit must crit. At zero stacks, Gaming's Crit Rate is usually low which means Gaming might not crit if you use his burst the moment he comes on field.
It's important to note that MH doesn't stack off-field! So, even if Furina is draining Gaming's health off-field, MH will not stack. An easy way to solve this is by plunging once to max out MH stacks before casting your burst. This is the most reliable method but not the most optimal.
E before casting Q
This ensures that your burst will (probably) crit, but there is a better alternative. If Gaming's health is low enough, it's possible to receive three MH stacks before the burst hits the opponent without casting Gaming's skill. This won't work if Gaming is full health.
Healing Gaming from two different sources right as you switch to Gaming to cast his Burst will cap MH stacks.
For example, I used this Gaming Double Hydro team (Gaming/Mona/Bennett/Furina) with the rotation Furina E Q > Bennett Q > Mona Q E > Gaming Q. The idea is that Gaming will be healed by Bennett, Mona (using Prototype Amber), and Gaming's self healing to max his stacks.
The clip below only stacked MH twice before the burst hit, but if timed right, Mona's Prototype Amber could've healed Gaming before the burst landed. Furina's HP drain could've also given Gaming one or two MH stacks, but I do not suggest relying on Furina to drain Gaming's HP on that small time frame because her HP drain is practically random.
Q cast at low HP
Suanni Man Chai manipulation
The time Man Chai returns to Gaming each plunge is inherently random. According to empirical observation, Man Chai takes about two seconds to return back to Gaming per plunge. That limits Gaming's plunges per burst uptime to five or six, but there is a way to manipulate Man Chai to return to Gaming faster.
It's important to note that Gaming's skill goes on cooldown NOT when Gaming lands his plunge but when the player presses E to lunge towards enemies. So for the duration that Gaming is in the air to plunge, his E is in cooldown. Gaming's E's cooldown resets the moment Man Chai returns to Gaming. Gaming first summons Suanni Man Chai the moment his burst hits enemies. If the player uses Gaming's E before Man Chai returns to the player, Man Chai will return to Gaming mid-skill which will reset his E's cooldown. When Gaming plunges, summoning Man Chai again, Gaming's E's cooldown has already been reset, allowing Gaming to use his E without having to wait for Man Chai to return.
Gaming can spam his E
This method is easier to do in corners of rooms where Man Chai can bounce off the nearby walls back to Gaming. It's important to remember that Man Chai's behaviour is truly random, so the player cannot pull this off all the time. It can be reliably performed in corners, but it's not every battle you have access to corners, haha. This is just to introduce players to this possibility.
Some few tips
Gaming is not a true hypercarry because his teammates do significant contributions to the team's overall DPS. Characters such as Furina, Yelan, Xingqiu, Ganyu, Rosaria, and Mona do non-negligible damage. Therefore teamwide buffing will be important for Gaming teams. Not buffing the off-field Furina or Yelan will be a significant DPS loss which is why I greatly recommend double hydro/cryo or hydro and cryo team cores over hydro/cryo and anemo. In certain scenarios, double swirls are simply impossible. It would be massive damage loss if the player only swirled hydro or pyro. Some scenarios won't even let you swirl pyro at all! When faced against hydro enemies you can only swirl hydro (which they are immune to). For cases which double swirl is possible, they usually sacrifice other character's burst uptimes. So, unless you have Xianyun, I would recommend you used Yelan, Mona, or even Diona, over Sucrose or Lynette. Kazuha is great if you have him and you're willing to do double swirls, but if you're not willing then just see my recommended Gaming teammates!
If you're reading until here, you have my sincerest gratitude! Thank you and good luck on your Gaming.
