Video Guide:

Introduction:

Hey everyone, welcome to our guide for the upcoming Fire Nihility five-star character, Fugue. She is set to be released in patch two point seven of Honkai Star Rail, and she is shaping up to be an amazing Break Effect support for Superbreak teams with her new, never-before-seen effect of applying exo-toughness on enemies by her talent. Fugue is the second fire nihility unit in Honkai Star Rail after Jiaoqiu, but has a different playstyle from him since she is a break support. Fugue can replace either the Imaginary Trailblazer or Ruan Mei on Superbreak teams. She is more likely to replace the Imaginary Trailblazer in meta teams because she can deal super-break damage with her talent. Fugue is incredibly efficient for free-to-play players to build because she only needs break-effect stats to maximize her effects. There are also several free-to-play options for the break team, including gallagher, the imaginary trailblazer, hunt march seventh, sushang, xueyi, and serval.

Basic Attack:

Now, let's dive into Fugue's kit. Fugue's Basic Attack deals Fire damage to a single enemy scaling off her attack.

Enhanced Basic Attack:

Fugue's Enhanced Basic Attack hits a single target for more damage but hits adjacent targets as well for a lower amount of damage.

Skill:

Fugue's skill designates an ally, granting them increased Break Effect, and she gains Enhanced Basic Attack for three turns. After a certain amount of attacks, there is a chance to inflict a debuff on an enemy, causing Fire D.O.T. damage based on a certain percentage of Fugue’s attack at the start of every turn. Also, the debuff reduces enemies’ defense by a certain amount.

Ultimate:

Fugue's Ultimate deals fire damage to all enemies based on her attack value and reduces their toughness irrespective of their weakness type. Fugue's Ultimate makes Fugue incredibly efficient for free-to-play players to build because Fugue can be used against enemies that are not weak to fire and still be effective.

Talent:

Fugue's Talent applies Exo-Toughness equal to half of their original toughness to all enemies while she is on the field. Converts Toughness Reduction into Super Break Damage when attacking Weakness Broken enemies. Applies additional Weakness Break Effect when breaking Exo-Toughness equal to a percent of the original Weakness Break effect of the ally that triggers the weakness break. This means that it is important for the weakness-breaking character to have a high break effect stats. Therefore, Fugue is optimal in break teams but can be used in D.O.T. teams because of her skill.

Technique:

Fugue’s Technique stuns all nearby enemies. Moreover, it is easy to break enemies’ weakness on break teams because both Boothill and Firefly implant their respective types as weakness on their enemies. Deals Fire damage to afflicted enemies in combat equal to a percent of Fugue’s attack. It has a chance to apply the debuff on all enemies and advances Fugue's action by a certain percentage.

Ability Level Priority:

Fugue's ability-leveling priority is her talent, then her skill, then her ultimate, and lastly her basic attack.

Major traces:

Now, let's talk about Fugue's major traces, which really enhance her capabilities. Fugue’s Trace One additionally delays the enemy's action by a certain percentage when an ally breaks the enemy’s weakness. This trace allows you to get away with fewer speed stats since the enemy’s action will be delayed even more. Fugue’s Trace Two increases the party's Break Effect each time an enemy is Weakness Broken, and this has a maximum stack limit. This trace allows you to get away with fewer break effect stats on your characters because it increases break effect. Fugue’s Trace Three increases Fugue's Break Effect by a certain percentage. When entering combat, the trace allows one free skill use by Fugue without consuming any skill points. This trace allows you to get away with fewer break effect stats specifically on Fugue since it increases her break effect.

Major Trace Unlocking Priority:

Fugue's major trace unlocking priority is first trace two, then trace three, and lastly trace one.

Recommended Endgame Stats:

Fugue’s recommended endgame stats are five thousand H.P., one thousand one hundred defense, two thousand five hundred attack, one hundred thirty-four speed, an energy regeneration rate of one hundred nineteen point four four percent, and two hundred fifty percent break effect.

Eidolons:

For those lucky enough to get Fugue's eidolons, here's a quick rundown of what they offer: Eidolon One increases Weakness Break Efficiency for the ally targeted by Fugue's Skill. This is decent since you can get away with less break effect stats on your main D.P.S. with this eidolon and is even better with great break effect stats. With her Eidolon Two, Fugue gains extra energy whenever any enemy's weakness is broken. It also advances all allies' actions after using her Ultimate. This seems really strong because Fugue can use her ultimate more often, decreasing her ultimate downtime. Furthermore, she advances allies forward, which is great for zero-cycle clears in memory of chaos. Fugue's Eidlon Four increases damage dealt by the ally targeted by Fugue's Skill. This does not seem that great because it is just a damage increase and nothing else. Fugue's Eidlon Six extends Fugue's Skill effect to all allies instead of just the targeted ally. This seems good because it increases all allies break effect, allowing them to quickly break enemies’ toughness bars. While these eidolons are powerful, remember that Fugue is still highly effective at Eidolon Zero for us free-to-play players.

Signature Light Cone:

Fugue's Five Star Signature Light Cone increases Fugue's Break Effect. It applies a stackable vulnerability effect to enemies when inflicting Weakness Break for a certain duration and a certain stack limit.

Signature LC vs E1:

So if you are a light spender and can only go for either her light cone or Eidolon one, I would recommend getting Fugue's five-star signature light cone because it increases her break effect and applies a vulnerability effect, which seems to be strong. Meanwhile, Fugue's Eidolon One only increases Weakness Break Efficiency for the ally targeted by Fugue's Skill. So, the additional vulnerability effect by the light cone makes it the better choice than the Eidolon One.

Light Cones:

Now, let's talk about other light cone options for Fugue. Fugue’s best herta shop free-to-play five-star light cone is Solitary Healing. It increases Fugue’s break effect. When Fugue uses her Ultimate, it increases the D.O.T. she deals for two turns. If an enemy affected by Fugue's D.O.T. is defeated, Fugue regenerates some energy. Fugue’s best light cone manifest free-to-play four-star light cone is Fermata. It increases Fugue's Break Effect and increases damage dealt to enemies afflicted with shock or wind shear. This damage boost also applies to D.O.T. effects. The increase in break effect is the only part that matters for Fugue in break teams. However, Fermata’s second effect can be used on D.O.T. teams with a wind or lightning character. For break teams, I would recommend the four-star gacha light cone Resolution Shines As Pearls of Sweat. Its effect is that when Fugue hits an enemy not already Ensnared, there's a chance to apply the Ensnare effect. Ensnared enemies suffer a defense decrease. This effect lasts for one turn. The best free-to-play three-star light cone that Fugue can use is Hidden Shadow. Fugue's next basic attack after using her skill gets a damage boost based on her attack.

Relic Sets:

For Fugue's build, we are looking at Iron Cavalry Against the Scourge as her best relic set. Alternatively, she can use Thief of Shooting Meteor.

Planar Sets:

Fugue’s best planar set is Forge of the Kalpagni Lantern. She can make use of the effect if Firefly is on her team since Firefly inflicts fire weakness on enemies. Otherwise, Fugue can use Talia: Kingdom of Banditry.

Relic Main Stats:

When it comes to relic main stats, for Fugue’s body piece, use either an H.P. percent or defense percent main stat. Fugue could possibly also use an attack percent main stat body piece if she deals decent damage. For Fugue’s feet piece, use a speed main stat. For Fugue’s planar sphere piece, use an H.P. main stat. For Fugue’s link rope piece, use an energy regeneration rate main stat. A break effect main stat could be a possible alternative.

Relic Substats:

When it comes to relic substats for Fugue, first prioritize either break effect or speed, then H.P. percent or defense percent.

Teams:

For team compositions, Fugue works best with break-effect characters and can be played on D.O.T teams. Break teams include: Firefly, Ruan Mei, Fugue, and Lingsha; Boothill, Ruan Mei, Fugue, and Lingsha; Rappa, Ruan Mei, Fugue, and Lingsha. Ruan Mei can be replaced with the imaginary trailblazer, while Lingsha can be replaced with Gallagher. Hunt March Seventh, Sushang, Xueyi, and Serval are free-to-play options for break teams. D.O.T. teams include: Kafka, Black Swan, Fugue, and Huohuo. Kafka and Black Swan can be replaced with any of the following characters: Luka, Guinaifen, and Sampo.

Conclusion:

With Fugue being so free-to-play friendly, I would definitely recommend pulling for her if you are using a break team.
