Video Guide:

Introduction:

This is a free-to-play guide for the upcoming Physical Destruction five-star character, Yunli. She is one of the characters to be released in Patch two point four and will most likely appear in Phase one of Patch two point four. Yunli is the fourth limited Physical unit after Boothill to be released in Honkai Star Rail. She is the first limited Physical Destruction unit, with the only other Physical Destruction unit being Clara, who can be obtained on the standard banner. Yunli is really efficient for free-to-play players to build because she gets critical rate stats from her traces for a total of six point six percent.

Major trace 1, Fiery Wheel:

Yunli’s major trace 1, Fiery Wheel, regenerates 15 Energy when being hit; so she should be able to easily get her ultimate.

Major trace 2:

Yunli’s major trace 2, resists the Crowd Control debuff received and reduces damage received by 20% when in the block state. This is really good, because she will not be stunned as often and is inherently tanky. She could potentially be run on a team with no sustain due to this trace for zero cycle memory of chaos clears.

Major trace 3, True Sunder:

Yunli’s major trace 3, True Sunder, increases Yunli's attack by 30% for 1 turn when she uses a counter. This is also great because she has to build less attack percent substats.

Skill, Bladeborne Quake:

Yunli’s Skill, Bladeborne Quake, restores her H.P. based on her attack, and deals A.O.E. damage; she deals more to a single target and less to adjacent enemies. This skill is similar to Blade’s and Firefly’s in that Yunli restores H.P.

Ultimate, Earthbind, Etherbreak:

Yunli’s Ultimate, Earthbind, Etherbreak, consumes 120 energy. Its effect is that Yunli gains block and taunts every enemy, until next turn of an allied or enemy unit. When Block is active, Yunli’s Critical Damage increases by 60%. This is similar to a critical damage main stat body piece. When the Counter Talent effect is triggered while Block is active, it will be switched to a Counter Intuit: Cull effect and also dispel Block. If Counters are triggered while Block is active, when the effect ends, Yunli will immediately launch a Counter Intuit: Slash effect on a random enemy target. Intuit: Slash: Deals Physical damage to the target equal to 144% of Yunli's attack, and deals Physical damage to adjacent targets equal to 72% of Yunli's attack. When an Intuit: Slash is inflicted, it will cause the next Intuit: Slash to become an Intuit: Cull. Intuit: Cull: Deals Physical damage to the target equal to 144% of Yunli's attack, and deals Physical damage to adjacent targets equal to 72% of Yunli's attack, and then additionally deals 6 hits of damage. Every hit of damage deals Physical damage equal to 48% of Yunli's attack to a random single enemy target. When Yunli deals damage through this ability, it will be viewed as Ultimate damage. Basically, both Intuit Slash and Intuit Cull are similar to Clara’s counter but A.O.E. and these are counted as a follow up attacks. Intuit Cull will be considered as Ultimate Damage, which makes some planar sets viable.

Talent, Flashforge:

Yunli’s talent’s, Flashforge, effect is that when Yunli is attacked by an enemy target, immediately launches a Counter on the attacker, dealing Physical damage equal to 60% of Yunli's attack, and Physical damage to adjacent targets equal to 30% of Yunli's attack. This is the same as clara’s counter but A.O.E. Yunli’s technique, Posterior Precedence, she inflicts Intuit: Cull on a random enemy target, and increases this attack's damage by 80%.

Should you pull for Yunli?

I will go over non-gacha options if you want to go for Yunli as a free-to-play player. Yunli is loved by the community because of her feet. If you do not have a Physical main D.P.S. or do not have Clara, you should consider pulling for Yunli.

F2P Friendly?

Yunli is free-to-play friendly because she is on the follow-up attack team with Dr. Ratio, who was given to players for free. I would pull for Yunli over Jiaoqiu if you like the follow-up attack playstyle, because that’s the best team for Yunli.

Optimal Use:

Yunli is optimally used in a team focused on follow up attacks. She does A.O.E. damage with her skill, talent, and ultimate. So, Yunli can be used in Memory of Chaos, Pure Fiction, and Apocalyptic Shadow.

Scaling:

Yunli’s entire kit scales off her attack stats. Therefore, it is important to focus on Attack Relic substats. However, it is also important to prioritize critical rate and critical damage substats because, like most D.P.S.s, that’s how she can deal the most damage.

Relic Set:

Yunli’s best four-piece relic set is probably Champion of Streetwise Boxing. Its two piece effect is to increase Physical damage by 10%. Yunli is a physical unit, so she benefits from an increase in physical damage. Its four piece effect is that after the wearer attacks or is hit, their attack increases by 5% for the rest of the battle. This effect can stack up to 5 times. Champion of Streetwise Boxing’s four piece effect will easily be maximized by Yunli because she taunts her enemies and deals counters, which will definitely happen more than five times in a battle. Another four-piece relic set that Yunli could probably use is Longevous Disciple. Its two piece set effect is to increase Maximum H.P. by 12%. Its four piece set effect is that when the wearer is hit or has their H.P. consumed by an ally or themselves, their Critical Rate increases by 8% for 2 turns and up to 2 stacks. From Yunli’s kit, there is no mention of her H.P. being consumed by her abilities, but she can easily be hit because of her taunt. Effectively, a sixteen percent increase in Yunli’s Critical Rate. You should build this if you do not have amazing critical rate substats on Champion of Streetwise Boxing. A third option is The Ashblazing Grand Duke, which increases follow-up attack damage by 20% with its two piece effect. Its four piece effect is that when the wearer uses follow-up attacks against the target enemy, increase the wearer's attack by 6% for every time the follow-up attack deals damage. This effect can stack for a maximum of 8 times and lasts for 3 turns. This effect is removed the next time the wearer uses a follow-up attack. A fourth relic set option is The Wind-Soaring Valorous, which increases attack by 12% with its two piece effect. Its four piece effect increases the wearer's Critical Rate by 6%. When the wearer uses a follow-up attack, increase the damage dealt by their Ultimate by 36%, lasting for 1 turn. The Wind-Soaring Valorous is probably a contender for Yunli’s best relic set because she values attack stats and critical rate stats. Also, she can easily proc the four piece effect by launching a follow up attack, and her Intuit Cull attack is considered to be ultimate damage. Obviously, if there is a new relic set made for Yunli, then use that relic set.

Planar Set:

Yunli’s best planar set will likely be Inert Salsotto. Its two piece effect is to increase the wearer's Critical Rate by 8%. When the wearer's current Critical Rate reaches 50% or higher, the wearer's Ultimate and follow-up attack damage increases by 15%. This is really good for Yunli because she wants a lot of critical rate and she heavily benefits from the secondary effect of increasing ultimate and follow-up attack damage. Duran, Dynasty of Running Wolves may be an alternative planar set Yunli could use. Its two piece effect is that when allies use follow-up attacks, the wearer receives 1 stack of Merit, stacking up to 5 times. Every stack of Merit increases the damage dealt by the wearer's follow-up attacks by 5%. When there are 5 stacks, additionally increases the wearer's Critical Damage by 25%. Yunli can easily gain 5 stacks of Merit if she is run with other follow up attack units. The secondary effect of increasing her critical damage is also really good because she benefits from high critical damage.

Relic Main Stats:

Yunli should use either a critical rate or critical damage main stat for the body relic piece, depending on which substats you have on your pieces. For the feet relic piece, Yunli can either use the speed main stat or the attack percent main stat. I would lean more toward the attack percent main stat because Yunli scales off attack percent. Yunli can use an attack percent main stat or a physical damage main stat for the planar sphere. An attack percent link rope main stat will likely be the most optimal for Yunli.

Relic Sub Stats:

The relic substat priority will be either critical damage or critical rate, with a minimum of fifty percent critical rate if running Inert Salsotto, then attack percent, and lastly speed.

Recommended Endgame Stats:

Recommended endgame stats will likely be three thousand one hundred H.P., three thousand five hundred attack, eight hundred defense, one hundred speed, seventy percent critical rate, and one hundred forty percent critical damage.

Ability Priority:

Yunli’s skill priority is likely Talent, then either skill or ultimate, and lastly, basic attack.

Major trace priority:

Yunli’s major trace priority is likely True Sunder, then Demon Quell, and finally Fiery Wheel.

Light cones:

Yunli’s best light cone is obviously her signature light cone, Dance at Sunset. It greatly increases the odds of Yunli being attacked, increases her critical damage, and increases the damage dealt from her follow up attacks with up to two stacks of Firedance. The best free-to-play light cone for Yunli is On the Fall of an Aeon. It increases Yunli’s attack stats when she she attacks. When she inflicts Weakness Break on enemies, her damage increases for 2 turns. A three star light cone alternative is Mutual Demise, which increases Yunli’s critical rate if her H.P. is below 80%.

Teams:

Yunli’s best free-to-play team is herself, Dr. Ratio, Tingyun, and Gallagher. Dr. Ratio can act as the main D.P.S., while Yunli can act as the sub D.P.S. Tingyun’s skill will increase Yunli’s attack, and her ultimate will regenerate Yunli’s energy. Tingyun can be replaced with Hanya or Asta. While not really synergistic with Yunli, Gallagher is the best free sustain. Gallagher can be replaced with Lynx, Natasha or Preservation March 7th. Yunli’s best premium team is herself, Topaz, Robin, and Aventurine. This is the best follow-up-attack team. Yunli will act as the main D.P.S. and Topaz will act as the sub D.P.S. Robin enhances follow up attack damage with her ultimate and trace. Aventurine is the best follow up attack sustain unit. A zero cycle team could include either Sparkle, Bronya, or Tingyun instead of Aventurine. Sparkle and Bronya will action advance Yunli, while Tingyun will increase Yunli’s ultimate uptime.
