Mel Medarda in League of Legends will be the first champion with a reflect mechanic, capable of redirecting certain abilities back to their origin.
Hailing from the Arcane series, Mel Medarda is set to be the first champion released in 2025. She will be a Mage specializing in the mid-lane but could also function as a support. Her kit is rumored to be inspired by champions like Kennen and Lux, offering a unique playstyle.
Mel will be the 170th champion in League of Legends, introducing a true reflect mechanic. She can counter projectile-based abilities, such as the ultimates of Jinx, Ezreal, and Veigar, or Morgana and Lux’s Q, reflecting them back to their origin.
Mel’s Skill Details:
Passive – Blazing Light Whenever Mel uses an ability, her next attack releases three additional projectiles, up to a maximum of nine. Whenever her abilities or attacks deal damage, enemies are marked with "Death's Afterimage", which can stack infinitely. Once the target has enough stacks, Mel's next attack will execute them, consuming the stacks.
Q – Radiant Volley Mel launches a barrage of explosive missiles at the targeted location, dealing damage over time to enemies in the area.
W – Soul Mirror Mel creates a shield around herself, becoming Untargetable and reflecting enemy projectiles back to their source. Additionally, she gains a temporary movement speed boost.
E – Sunburst Mel fires a solar orb that traps enemies at its center, dealing damage over time and slowing enemies within its radius.
R – Gilded Eclipse Ignoring distance, this ability deals damage to all enemies marked with "Death’s Afterimage" anywhere on the map. The more stacks a target has, the higher the damage. At higher levels, the damage scaling with "Death’s Afterimage" increases significantly.
Who is Mel Medarda?
Mel is a member of the Medarda family, exiled by her own kin. According to her claims, her mother disowned her for failing to meet the family’s strict standards. Mel wandered to Piltover, using her political acumen to rise to her current position on the Council.
In Arcane Act 2, it becomes clear that Mel has successfully gained Jayce's trust, rallying allies to her side and orchestrating Heimerdinger’s removal from the Piltover Council. By the end of the series, she fully embraces her Noxian heritage, donning the iconic red-and-gold attire of her homeland.
