Win Conditions
- Illaoi's Q is her best poke tool and also her best wave control tool too. However, it is slightly more expensive than her W. If you can use a terrain tentacle instead of a Q to do the same job it will help you save mana- especially in the early.
- The spirit from Illaoi’s E can be hard to finish off under the following conditions: the opponent is very tanky, or the enemy can damage you in rapid succession. This is why it is important to max this ability first since the duration and damage scales.
- Illaoi’s R has a brief moment of unstoppability at the beginning. This can be used to dodge critical crowd control that would otherwise limit your damage potential.
Weak Against
- Yorick: Yorick's ghouls and Maiden of the Mist can quickly stack up and overwhelm Illaoi's defenses, making it challenging for her to sustain through the constant damage.
- Mordekaiser: Mordekaiser's ability to pull Illaoi into his Death's Grasp and then follow up with his Q and passive can lead to a significant trade advantage for Mordekaiser.
- Kayle: As Kayle scales, her increased range and damage output can outpace Illaoi's sustain and damage in trades.

- K'Sante: Illaoi's E ability enables her to win most of the trades whenever K'Sante decides to go in. It's crucial to play around your E ability.
- Renekton: While Renekton is strong early game, Illaoi's ability to poke and sustain through her Tentacle Smash and Harsh Lesson can match his trading potential.

- Early Game: In the early game as Illaoi, focus on farming safely with your Q-Tentacle Smash while setting up tentacles for harassment. Punish your opponent with Test of Spirit when they overstep, but be cautious not to overcommit.
- Mid Game: During the mid game, become a strong split pusher, creating pressure in a side lane with your E-Tentacle Smash and R-Leap of Faith for team fight presence. Teleport into fights when your ultimate is available, and use it to devastate your enemies in close-quarter battles.
- Late Game: In the late game, transition into a formidable team fighter, looking to engage with your ultimate in tight spaces. Utilize Test of Spirit to weaken high-priority targets, then follow up with Tentacle Smashes to deal massive damage. Positioning and landing your abilities are key to success.
