Win Conditions
- Look to gank lanes that are over extended and are low. You do not have the greatest ganking potential, so ganking easy lanes is key.
- Continuously toggle your E on and off for extra damage when farming the jungle camps. Do not leave it on though as it will quickly burn through your mana bar.
- Keep an eye on the minimap at all times and use your R to pick up kills on low health enemies.
Weak Against
- Trundle: Trundle's E can obstruct Karthus' movement and serve as an effective zone control tool. Trundle's Ultimate is also be an extremely powerful ability.
- Udyr: Udyr's high mobility and ability to quickly close the gap make it challenging for Karthus to land skill shots. Additionally, Udyr's E grants him a stun that can interrupt Karthus' casting.
- Rammus: Rammus' W and E make it hard for Karthus to do anything. His Q enables him to engage on Karthus and close the gap with ease.
Strong Against
- Kindred: Karthus can abuse Kindred's relatively short range and immobility by consistently landing Q for poke damage. His R can also finish off low-health targets, even if they get the healing from Kindred's R.
- Rengar: Karthus' W can zone Rengar and limit his ability to get close. Karthus' passive can also deal damage to Rengar even if he takes Karthus down.
- Gragas: While Gragas has strong burst damage, Karthus can use Q and E to poke from a distance, making it challenging for Gragas to engage. Karthus can also punish Gragas if he overcommits to an engagement.

Game Strategy
- Early Game: In the early game, Karthus should focus on efficient farming using Lay Waste (Q) to clear camps quickly. Use your global ultimate (Requiem) to assist teammates in skirmishes and secure objectives like Dragon, while avoiding aggressive invades due to your vulnerability in the jungle.
- Mid Game: During the mid game, Karthus's power spikes as he completes his core items like Liandry's. Participate in team fights, using your AoE damage and Wall of Pain (W) to disrupt enemy formations. Use your ultimate strategically, combining it with your team's crowd control to maximize its impact in fights and secure kills across the map.
- Late Game: In the late game, Karthus becomes a potent teamfighting mage. Position yourself carefully, using Lay Waste to deal massive damage and Wall of Pain to control enemy movements. Your ultimate becomes a key tool to soften up enemies before engagements, and your passive allows you to deal damage even after you've been taken down.
