Got it? The name's a pun. Jack, Queen, Quinn... nevermind.

Middle

This is 100% viable in both Top and Mid, but I put mid cos I think this strategy is way better midlane + I'm almost exclusively playing midlane for now, I just think Quinn has better matchups there.

Credits for the idea go entirely to Coach Mysterias, look him up on YT, and his Jack of all Trades strategy explanation using Chovy's Corki as the example.

🔸 Part 1: Jack of all Trades ☝️🤓

This is a recently discovered strategy viable on many champions, that relies on a very specific combinations of runes and items. I'm going into detail over the options, and why you should take them.

The strategy revolves around the newer Inspiration tree rune, Jack of all Trades. Which, in short, works as follows (taken from the wiki):

But Ability Haste tho?

Now, now. While Quinn may not be the best user of Ability Haste, it's not bad at all. Having reduced CD on W is great to prevent ganks in midlane, and the reduced CD on Q and E technically give you more passive procs, so take it.

The main thing here is the raw AD you get from the trait (which works with your fairly high AD ratios), and the massive sustain you have in your runes, allowing you to stat check the enemy laner, trade equally or favorably, and then sustain the damage back up. Repeat until kill. Talking about runes though...

🔸 Part 2: The runes ☝️🤓 (objectively the right choice)

The main rune path is pretty much the best it can be.

Fleet + Absorb Life + Biscuit Delivery give you a lot of HP sustain, and just enough mana sustain for you to not miss having Manaflow Band or Presence of Mind; and Alacrity + Cut Down + Jack of all Trades give you amazing early game power. Flat HP instead of scaling for more early game power, of course (scaling HP outscales at level 7+).

While taking Triple Tonic is an option, I'd honestly advise against it, because you'll most likely run into mana issues. Any other rune in the Inspiration tree isn't worth it here. Absorb Life is too OP to go PoM or Triumph.

Why not Coup de Grace?

While Coup would make sense considering you want to play for kills, new Cut Down is immensely better for laning in every single scenario. Picture this: if someone trades against you, and you get low, say, 20% HP, you recall. It's the same for the enemy. So that's 20% HP that you're not damaging with CdG.

On the other side, Cut Down works in the 100%-50% HP range, allowing you to keep the enemy below half HP at all times, since the moment they go above that, you deal extra damage to chunk them down again.

Also, having no % damage scaling depending on the enemy HP allows you to calculate your damage slightly better for a kill.

🔸 Part 3: Summoners ☝️🤓

Flash

Ignite
Ignite

As usual, Flash Ignite in almost all scenarios. You're trying to play for solo kills, so Ignite helps massively; and we all know Quinn doesn't need TP. Around 40% HP (in midlane matchups), is usually a kill angle with AA - E - AA - Q - AA - Ignite. Of course, wait until the enemy wastes cooldowns.

🔸 Part 4: The strategy ☝️🤓

Your starting item, Doran's Blade, already gives you 3 Jack stacks, because it has HP, AD and Lifesteal. If you buy Boots, that's a 4th stack. Buying either Armor or MR (depending on what you need for your lane opponent's damage) will give you the 5th stack, providing you with 5 Ability Haste and 6 AD, for a total of 460 gold in extra stats, or about 4 full waves + a cannon (scaling all the way up to 1025 gold at 10 stacks), getting you massively ahead in stats, quite early.

Using the extra movement speed, plus the sustain and damage from runes, plus the resistance you bought, you're able to fight toe to toe with anyone, especially mages, and come out on top sooner or later. Alternatively, a dagger would also give you the 5th stack, but it's worse in the 1v1 trades, so go for it only if you hard win lane without the resist.

Boots though?

In most cases, finishing defensive boots will be your best bet for 1v1 trading. Mercury's Treads also give tenacity, which is another Jack stack. As a general rule, into magic damage + heavy CC, go Mercs, and against 3+ AD go Plated Steelcaps.

If none of the above conditions are fulfilled, you can build Berserker's, and complete your resist item into something else later, although it is far less optimal. Best options (in my opinion) below.

Maw is really good if you're getting bursted, otherwise Wit's is way better for the extra Tenacity stack. Iceborn Gauntlet is very situational, but it can be good if you're not the main damage dealer, plus, it is quite cheap.

🔸 Part 5: The fastest 10 Stacks ☝️🤓

Kraken first item is, in my opinion, the best route in every scenario.

Assuming you built defensive boots, are snowballing, and want to rush the fastest possible 10 Jack Stacks, your build would look something like this (I'll also include the fastest Berserker's build path):

Kraken Slayer

Cloak of Agility

Dirk and Cloak will eventually turn into The Collector. You can build a Last Whisper over the Dirk for a clean Lord Dominik's 2nd item, or a Glowing Mote over Cloak for a fast Hubris 2nd, but so far in my testing, Hubris hasn't been too good. More testing is still required, I also have to test Umbral Glaive, that has potential.

🔸 Part 6: Mid to Late Game ☝️🤓

Eventually, you'll have to sell your Doran's Blade, thus losing at least 1 to 2 Jack Stacks. The most optimal way to keep 10 stacks would be with one of the following paths:

If you went for Berserker's Greaves, you'll have to get creative with your items to get the 10 stacks. I'll leave some good multi stack options you can build.

Mercury's Treads

Kraken Slayer

The Collector

Lord Dominik's Regards

Bloodthirster
Bloodthirster

You of course keep the Doran's Blade until you buy Vampiric Scepter (for the Lifesteal stack), and the % Armor Penetration from Lord Dominik's replaces the stack you'd get from HP. Splash in an Infinity Edge last item and you clap cheeks (you could also consider Blade of the Ruined King instead of Bloodthirster. Ravenous Hydra is NOT an option).

🔸 Part 7: TLDR and tips ☝️🤓

If that was a lot to read, just consider the following points:

  1. Rushing 5 stacks ASAP is the move.
  2. Defensive stats in lane are OP.
  3. Keep in mind your 10 stack goal while purchasing items in the mid to late game.
  4. Kraken rush is amazing, BORK gives 1 less Jack stack.
  5. Items that give you a stat in their passive, such as Serylda's Grudge or Terminus DO NOT work.
  6. Infinity Edge's extra crit damage doesn't count either.
  7. Trade aggressively and know your limits. You win the lane through "war of attrition".
  8. You can actually just choose to maintain 5 stacks and not go for 10. You'll be getting less value from the rune, sure, but it'll still be fairly good. Not much scaling, but a lot of early game power.

🔸 Part 8: Conclusion

Thank you if you read this far! This is something I've been HARD experimenting with recently, and I was really excited to share it. While it might not look that good at first glance, it's surprisingly effective in practice; you really won't know until you try it out. I will just say this is probably the most fun I've had with Quinn in a while.

Once again, credits for the idea go to Coach Mysterias, as he posted the first piece of content I saw about this "Jack of all Trades war of attrition" strategy.

Good luck on the Rift, Birb Summoner! 🤍
