Rakan Build Support Guide Patch 14.20b/How To Play Rakan Support

Greetings fellow support players, welcome to my Rakan guide! Since Rakan came out I fell in love with the champion as he has a very versatile and unique playstyle. At the moment I have around 1M mastery points in Rakan and I would like to share my knowledge and experience with you guys! I really appreciate some constructive feedback as this is my first guide and I do want to know what you guys think of the information or the guide layout itself. If you have any personal questions feel free to ask them aswell!

This guide has been written and checked by me. If you have any additions feel free to contact me. I am planning to update the guide every patch to keep you guys up to date on the newest builds, strategies and matchups.

Rakan is a champion with endless ways to play him. His mobility makes you a great engagement tool for your team while you have the safety to dash back to your team using your E – Battle Dance. Furthermore your peeling potential is ginormous with your Q – Gleaming Quill and your E – Battle Dance in combination with Guardian. If you choose to go for the full AP Rakan build, you will notice that you have great burst potential and you are a real backline threat to the enemy team. Rakan is a champion that can win or lose a game with the right engagement so don't underestimate your importance!

• Special synergy with Xayah

b. Weaknesses

• Squishy in lane
• High cooldowns early game
• Weak if CC’ed
• Reliant on teammates.

• Ensure that you do not let the enemy poke you down with basic attacks or abilities. If they’re able to poke you down, you’ll never be able to engage with your Grand Entrance W.
• You’ll be unable to run directly at the enemy with your Ultimate The Quickness R to start a team fight. Flanking from the side is the best way to team fight on Rakan. Run in with your Ultimate The Quickness R active, knock the enemy up with your Grand Entrance W and then escape with your Battle Dance E .
• Rakan is a solid roaming champion. You could look to roam from base to help your Mid laner get a kill. Roaming from lane to assist your Jungler is also easy on Rakan. Before roaming, always make sure your ADC will be safe and will not die while you’re gone.

• Rakan builds guide:

1. Early game

• Get level 2 first and look for a favourable trade. Gaining an early health lead is key to getting a kill later on down the line. Level 2 in the bottom lane is the first minion wave followed by the next 3 melee minions.
• Your goal during the laning phase is to look for kills and abuse the enemy as often as you can. Try to play aggressive frequently to gain a lead.
• After destroying the bottom lane tower, rotate to the mid lane and try to take that tower. This will open up the map and give your team a gold lead.

2. Mid game

• As a Support, you’re quite vulnerable and can easily be killed when going to ward, when you’re moving around the map, and when you’re alone. To reduce the chances of dying and getting caught out of position, try and stick with your team at all times.
• Keep a constant eye on what major objective is spawning next. If it’s spawning soon, make sure you place vision around the objective as quickly and as safely as possible before retreating to safety. Having vision around major objectives is key.
• Look for picks during the mid-game. If you can pick someone off with the help from your allies, you can abuse their death timer to earn more gold and possibly take a tower, an objective or get more kills.

3. Late game

• Ward major objectives and place vision in high traffic areas in the late stages of the game. Keep them warded so you can see the enemy move around the map and see them starting the objective.
• Stay with your team at all times. Avoid moving around the map alone so you do not get caught out. Getting caught out will result in your team having to play 4v5. Do not ward alone unless you know where the enemy is.
• Peel for your allies as much as possible. Keeping them alive for as long as possible in team fights is a must in order to win the game.
