Soraka Introduction

Soraka, known as the Starchild, is a celestial being who descended from the stars to protect the vulnerable and heal the wounded. With her profound connection to the stars, Soraka channels cosmic energy to rejuvenate her allies and keep them safe in the most intense battles. Her purpose is rooted in compassion, selflessness, and the desire to preserve life, even at the cost of her own health. A support champion in League of Legends, Soraka excels at healing her team from a distance and providing sustained support throughout the game. Her unique healing abilities make her a vital asset, especially in team fights where she can turn the tide with her powerful heals and silencing spells.

Soraka's playstyle revolves around timing her abilities to maximize healing output while keeping herself safe from danger, making her an invaluable champion in any team composition.

Why Play Soraka?

Playing Soraka offers several advantages, especially for players who enjoy a supportive and strategic role in League of Legends. Here are some key reasons why you might choose to play Soraka:

  1. Sustained Healing Power Soraka excels at keeping her teammates alive with consistent healing through her W - Astral Infusion, allowing her team to sustain longer in fights and sieges. Her ultimate, R - Wish, heals all allies globally, making her a game-changing champion in team fights.

  2. Game-Changing Utility Soraka's E - Equinox provides crowd control by silencing enemies in an area, which can disrupt key abilities and stop initiations. If they stay too long in the zone, it roots them, adding more utility in both offensive and defensive situations.

  3. Global Impact With her ultimate, Wish, Soraka can influence fights across the map by healing all allies, which can save distant teammates or turn the tide of battle, making her a highly impactful champion even when not directly involved in the fight.

  4. Safe and Consistent Lane Phase Soraka's ability to heal both herself and her ADC in lane makes her a strong laner who can out-sustain opponents, allowing for safer trades and making her team harder to kill early on.

  5. High Scaling and Late-Game Impact As the game progresses, Soraka becomes even more powerful. Her healing output increases as she builds ability power and cooldown reduction, making her a vital asset in long games where team fights decide the outcome.

  6. Supportive Playstyle Soraka fits players who prefer to focus on protecting their team and staying in the backline. Her kit revolves around prioritizing her allies’ health over damage output, rewarding selfless and calculated gameplay.

  7. Fits into Many Compositions Soraka is versatile in most team comps. Whether your team needs sustain to survive poke-heavy enemies, or you need healing to endure long, drawn-out fights, she’s a perfect pick.

In summary, playing Soraka is all about keeping your team alive and denying the enemy's kill potential with her healing and utility. If you enjoy playing a more passive, yet impactful support role that focuses on the health and safety of your allies, Soraka is an excellent choice.

Soraka Overview

Soraka is the best healing support in the game! If you love to heal and support in the traditional 'MMORPG' way then this is the champion for you! Not only can she heal she has a couple of unique crowd control spells and some nice damage early on. What's not to like!?

  1. Soraka's Strengths
  • Loads of healing
  • Can be aggressive during laning phase
  • Generally easy to play
  • Has a silence (not many champions have this)
  • Globall Healing Ultimate!
  • Fast movement speed in certain situations
  1. Soraka's Weaknesses
  • Requires landing a skill shot to maximise healing output
  • Can be quite squishy
  • Base model is ugly
  • Enemy will take grievous wounds to try and mitigate your healing Runes

Soraka Tips And Tricks

  • Stay in the backline at all times. Do not walk too far forward as you will be a target for incoming damage. Standing as far back as possible will allow you to survive for as long as possible in lane and in team fights.
  • Once you’ve landed your Starcall (Q) on the enemy, use your Astral Infusion (W) on your ADC to heal them. This will not cost you the usual health cost.
  • Keep a constant eye on the minimap at all times and be prepared to use your Ultimate Wish (R) to save your allies. Do not use it if they’re going to die anyway. Only use it if they have a chance of escaping/ turning the fight around.

Soraka Ability Combos

  • Basic: Q + E + AA
  • Basic: Q + R + W
  • Basic: E + Q + AA + AA
  • Medium: R + Flash + E + AA + Q + AA
  • Medium: R + Flash + W + E + Q + W

How to Play Soraka Support

  1. Laning Phase Be aggressive with Starcall (Q) early. It does a lot of damage early and you will self-sustain back any poke. Look to use this whenever on cooldown.

Try to refrain from using Astral Infusion (W) unless you have the Starcall (Q) buff 'Rejuvenation'. This will heal your ally for more.

Using Equinox (E) to poke is OK early on. If you feel like you are going to be ganked soon, save it and use it to block pathways they are running. Don't necessarily use it on top of them. If you put it in-between yourself and the enemy, they will have to run through it and then risk being rooted by the duration ending.

When you hit level 6 Wish (R) can save an ally across the map, however, try and wait until they are at least below 40% HP to get an extra boost in the heal through the ability passive + Revitalize.

Wish (R) removes grievous wound debuff - however, when using it on Ignited targets, you will remove the wound, but the damage will still persist.

Sometimes not healing an ally that is below 40% hp and nearer a turret can be good thing. The increased movement speed running to them can be very helpful to get away yourself, whereas if you were to heal them, you wouldn't get that move speed boost from Salvation.

  1. Teamfights Unlike the laning phase, you will not want to be aggressive at the teamfight stage.

Ensure you have Equinox (E) ready to disrupt assassins/tanks preventing them from escaping/using crowd control. Ideal if you can overlap on an already stunned/rooted target.

Try not to be too greedy with Wish (R). Sometimes its better to heal at 50-60% rather than trying to get the bonus at 40%.

Landing Starcall (E) is your last priority, if you can get one off to get the buff and continue to spam heal allies with Astral Infusion (W) this is the 'ideal' scenerio.

Be careful on your own health, don't forget Astral Infusion (W) also costs your own health to do!

  1. Early game
  • Harass the enemy throughout the laning phase with your Starcall (Q). Your goal is to constantly harass the enemy whenever possible and get kills.
  • After destroying the bottom lane tower, rotate to the mid lane and try to take that tower. This will open up the map and give your team a gold lead. Poke and harass the enemy Mid laner and force them away from the objective to make it easier to secure the mid lane tower.
  • Keep a constant eye on the minimap and your allies health. Use your Ultimate Wish (R) on allies that are low and have the potential to turn around and win the fight or survive. Avoid wasting your Ultimate Wish (R) on allies that are going to die even with your Ultimate Wish (R).
  1. Mid game
  • As a Support, you’re quite vulnerable and can easily be killed when going to ward, when you’re moving around the map, and when you’re alone. To reduce the chances of dying and getting caught out of position, try and stick with your team at all times.
  • Keep a constant eye on what major objective is spawning next. If it’s spawning soon, make sure you place vision around the objective as quickly and as safely as possible before retreating to safety. Having vision around major objectives is key.
  • Watch your positioning in team fights and try to heal up whoever needs it the most. Try to keep your ADC or main carry alive for as long as possible.
  1. Late game
  • Ward major objectives and place vision in high traffic areas in the late stages of the game. Keep them warded so you can see the enemy move around the map and see them starting the objective.
  • Stay with your team at all times. Avoid moving around the map alone so you do not get caught out. Getting caught out will result in your team having to play 4v5. Do not ward alone unless you know where the enemy is.
  • Peel for your allies as much as possible. Keeping them alive for as long as possible in team fights is a must in order to win the game.

Conclusion

In conclusion, Soraka is the ultimate healing support champion for players who prioritize keeping their team alive and controlling the flow of team fights. Her ability to provide massive healing, silence and root enemies, and globally impact the game makes her an invaluable asset in many team compositions. If you enjoy a selfless, strategic playstyle focused on protection, Soraka's cosmic power will shine in your hands, helping your team outlast and outfight opponents. With the Starchild by their side, your allies will always have a beacon of hope, no matter how tough the battle becomes.
