Do not use your E unless you are going for a kill or to set up a gank. It costs a lot of mana and is main source of escaping.
Look to farm with your Q to gain stacks and increase your AP. Line up multiple minions for extra damage.
Use your R on squishy targets to execute them at the start of the fight and make it 5v4.

Aurelion Sol: Aurelion Sol's consistent, long-range damage allows him to harass Veigar from a distance, making it difficult for Veigar to farm and stack his Q.
Xerath: Xerath outranges Veigar significantly and can poke him down from a distance with his Q and W.
Kassadin: Kassadin's passive reduces magic damage taken, mitigating Veigar's burst damage. As Kassadin scales, he becomes a significant threat to Veigar, making it crucial for Veigar to shut him down early.
