Introduction

Zac, the Secret Weapon, is a unique champion in League of Legends known for his elastic abilities and exceptional durability. Hailing from the depths of Zaun, Zac's playstyle revolves around crowd control and sustained engagements, making him a formidable force in team fights.

Strengths and Weaknesses of Zac

  1. Strengths

Zac's greatest strength lies in his disruptive potential and survivability. His passive ability, Cell Division, allows him to regenerate health by collecting chunks of himself, making him incredibly hard to kill. This passive also grants him a chance to revive upon taking fatal damage, further extending his presence in fights. Additionally, his Elastic Slingshot (E) and Let's Bounce! (R) abilities provide powerful crowd control by disrupting enemy formations and locking down key targets.

Massive all-in potential with the ability to chain his crowd control abilities with his allies. This makes him a very potent ganker, especially due to how his Elastic Slingshot E works. He can keep gaining some of his health back in a fight by collecting his Unstable Matter W blobs. This makes it very hard for his enemies to kill him easily, which makes focusing him down first quite useless. His Passive and Ultimate Let's Bounce! R can allow him to singlehandedly take a group of enemies out of a major team fight, by simply zoning them away. He can also deal a lot of damage to the enemy backline if they ignore Zac.

  1. Weaknesses

However, Zac does have notable weaknesses. His abilities, especially Elastic Slingshot (E), require precise timing and positioning to maximize effectiveness, leaving him vulnerable if misused. His damage output can also be inconsistent, relying heavily on his Unstable Matter (W) to deal percentage health damage, which might not be as impactful against high-health targets with magic resist.

Once he goes in with his Elastic Slingshot E, he can’t get out due to his Elastic Slingshot E being on a very high cooldown initially. If his Passive is down, he can’t play as aggressively due to the threat of him being killed. This is applicable for early to mid-game fights only. If the enemy avoids staying close to the walls, then it will become really hard for Zac to all-in them from the fog of war. He will then have to take conventional gank paths.

Zac Tips and Tricks

  • Master Elastic Slingshot: Practice using Zac's Elastic Slingshot (E) to engage from unexpected angles, catching enemies off-guard and setting up for your team's follow-up.
  • Optimize Cell Division: Manage Zac's passive, Cell Division, effectively by positioning to reabsorb blobs during skirmishes, ensuring you stay healthy and ready to reengage.
  • Coordinate Let's Bounce!: Coordinate with your team when casting Let's Bounce! (R) to maximize its disruption potential. Timing this ability well can turn the tide of team fights in your favor.
  • Itemization: Consider items that enhance Zac's durability and crowd control, such as Sunfire Aegis for additional damage over time or Spirit Visage for increased healing from Cell Division.
  • Awareness of Cooldowns: Zac's abilities have significant cooldowns, especially his ultimate. Time engagements and team fights around these cooldowns to maximize Zac's impact throughout the game.
  • Avoid commonly warded bushes by using your Elastic Slingshot E from afar and out of vision. You can use it to get over walls too.
  • Ping your team if you’re in your Passive and they might be able to save you with a Teleport.Group and play around your Ultimate Let's Bounce! R.
  • Zac’s kit is very good in team fights and he can easily chain CC with it. Before going in though, always make sure your team is ready to follow up and go in with you.

Game plan

  1. Early game
  • Your goal in the early game is to gank as often as possible to get your allies ahead. You are a strong early game Jungler, so make sure you try to exploit your early advantage.
  • Look to secure objectives as often as possible. This will give your team an advantage as the game goes along.
  • Find a healthy balance between ganking your allies, farming your jungle and securing objectives. Make sure you do not fall behind in XP by trying to constantly gank.
  1. Mid game
  • Continue to pick up and secure jungle camps whenever possible. Not falling behind in the mid-game is crucial as a Jungler, so make sure you continue to farm!
  • When no team fights are occurring, go to a side lane and push. It’s important that you continue to farm during the mid-game so you can get your items as quickly as possible.
  • After getting a kill, make the call for Baron or Dragon if your team is nearby and able to help you. Securing these objectives as a Jungler is crucial is in the mid-game.
  1. Late game
  • After going in with your Ultimate Let's Bounce! R, be prepared to fall back and peel for your allies in late game team fights.
  • To make getting on the enemy backline easier, group with your team but stay off to the side. If you flank from an unwarded bush, the enemy will find it harder to react to your all-in. Avoid splitting or being away from your team in the late game as the enemy will force a fight while you’re gone.
  • Play around your Ultimate Let's Bounce! R in the later parts of the game. Avoid fighting unless your Ultimate Let's Bounce! R is up. Fighting with out it will make the late game team fights much harder. Delay fights and be prepared to disengage if it’s still on cooldown.

Conclusion

In conclusion, Zac stands out as a versatile and durable tank in League of Legends, capable of disrupting enemy lines and turning team fights with his crowd control and survivability. While he requires skillful positioning and timing to excel, mastering Zac's abilities can make him a pivotal asset to any team composition. Whether bouncing into the fray or absorbing damage with Cell Division, Zac remains a force to be reckoned with in the Summoner's Rift.
