This deck doesn't really have any bad starting hands, and does quite well against Meta decks particularly Giratina EX decks. Even some Fighting type 'toolbox' decks can be beaten.

The 1 Darkrai EX is essential as this deck doesnt require much energy with Grafaiai often needing no energy and Clodsire EX needing only 2, so all that excess energy can go onto Darkrai EX, chipping away and helping the general low-damage attacks be more effective. Eventually you can also get the chance to attack with Darkrai EX if the situation is right.

The Cyrus works well with the poison damage of Wooper and Grafaiai since your opponent will often want to retreat their poisoned Pokémon to recover it and stop further damage. This opens an opportunity for a Cyrus later in the match.

The Red helps the Clodsire EX and Darkrai EX attacks finish off other EX targets more easily.

There is a very nice scenario when going second, where you start with Wooper and have Clodsire EX in your hand. You can poison your opponent's active Pokémon and if they don't use Pokémon Center Lady or retreat, you can deal a massive blow on your next turn with Clodsire EX's full Venoshock attack, in total dealing 160 damage.

Both Grafaiai's poison and Darkrai EX's ability damage can deal with stall type decks such as Druddigon, since you don't have to actually use attacks on their tank card in the Active Spot.
