Part 2: Game Mode In Smite 2

SMITE 2 offers a variety of game modes to match your unique playstyle, so explore and find your favorite!

1. Conquest

Conquest is our premiere competitive MOBA mode, featuring a three-lane map surrounded by a jungle area. Your base, defended by three Phoenixes and a Titan, sits on one end. Your enemy's base is on the other. You win by destroying the enemy Titan.

  • Destroy opposing towers: Each lane is protected by a series of towers. These will attack you when in range. Work together with your minions to destroy the towers and weaken the enemy base.

  • Jungle Camps: These are spread around the map’s jungle areas. Beating these will grant you gold and XP, but also level up the difficulty of each camp. As camps level up they will start to also drop buffs for you to pick up.

  • Gold Fury: One of the strongest monsters in Conquest. Defeating this will grant a permanent team effect. Once she has been defeated three times she will change into the Ancient Fury. Beating this ultimate version disables all enemy towers and phoenixes for a short period of time.

  • Fire Giant: The strongest monster in Conquest, often not attempted until your gods have spent some time leveling up. Defeating this will require team coordination. But doing so will unlock a significant team-wide buff to both protection and the damage you deal.

  • Phoenixes: The last line of defense for a base. Like towers, these will attack you when in range. Once destroyed allied minions in their lane will be empowered and they will activate a cool down before reappearing.

  • Titan: Each team’s ultimate objective is to destroy the enemy Titan. Complete other objectives around the map to level up your gods and unlock buffs before making your final assault on the Titan.

2. Arena

Arena is a classic SMITE pvp mode with a focus on explosive team fights and winning the favor of the audience by pushing your team’s minions into the opposing teams portal. Featuring an open map with buff camps on either side, a portal at either end, and columns scattered throughout. Win fights and reduce your enemies' tickets to 0 to win.

  • Push Minions: A variety of minions will spawn from either base and clash in the middle. Push your minions into the opposing teams portal to reduce their ticket count!

  • Win Fights: Clash with the opposing team in glorious combat, earn cheers and small gifts from the audience and reduce the opposing team’s ticket count each time you secure a kill. A killing streak will make you stronger, but also more easily slain, so fight for glory! Earning enough player kills will also provide your team with a mighty Minotaur, push this mighty beast across the Arena to strike your opponents with a major ticket loss!

  • Control The Map: The map offers a variety of captured jungle camps that you can fight to earn powerful buffs. Securing these will give you the edge in combat, allowing you to achieve victory from even the strongest opponents.

  • Reduce Tickets: The goal of this game is to reduce the opposing team’s ticket count to 0. Tickets can be reduced by securing God kills, minion kills, and by pushing minions into the opposing team’s portal. Once your opponent's ticket counter hits 0 you are victorious!

Designed for three-player teams, Joust offers intense, action-packed gameplay with a focus on skirmishes, teamwork, and tactical decision-making. This mode takes place on a single-lane map, featuring a streamlined battlefield that includes jungle camps, a defensive tower, a phoenix, and the enemy Titan to conquer.

Key Features of Joust Mode:

  1. Team Composition:
  • Teams consist of three players, making synergy and team coordination critical.
  • Balancing roles like a damage-dealing assassin, a durable tank, and a versatile mage or support ensures better chances of victory.
  1. Objective:
  • The primary objective is to destroy the enemy team’s structures, including their tower and phoenix, and ultimately defeat their Titan.
  1. Map Design:
  • The map is compact, encouraging frequent engagements.
  • Jungle camps provide buffs that can turn the tide in battles, rewarding strategic control.
  1. Gameplay Dynamics:
  • Matches are faster-paced compared to Conquest, making it ideal for shorter gaming sessions.
  • Emphasis is placed on small-scale fights, quick rotations, and efficient wave clear.

  • Clash in the Middle: Meet your opponents face-to-face in the middle of the map's only lane. Engage in epic team fights, where the winner has a chance to push towards the opposing team’s base!
  • Destroy Opposing Towers: The enemy team has two towers on their half of the map. Win fights and push minions into the enemy tower for a chance to destroy them!
  • Slay the Phoenix: The enemy team’s final line of defense for the Titan is a mighty Phoenix! Push forward with your minions and slay the Phoenix for a chance to win the game.
  • Destroy the Titan: Once the Phoenix is slayed, push forward and fight the enemy team’s mighty Titan. Destroy the Titan and claim victory!

Why make a true sequel to SMITE?

− SMITE is an amazing game, loved by millions, that is built on a technical foundation that is now well over a decade old. This technical debt holds back what SMITE can be, from graphics to UI to audio to god creation and so much more. SMITE 2 starts from scratch and rebuilds SMITE to bring it into the modern age.

How different will SMITE 2 be from SMITE?

− SMITE 2 should feel like the SMITE you know and love, just strictly better. Our core starting goal was to capture the magic of SMITE’s core combat and the MOBA formula. From there, we took every opportunity possible to make combat feel more impactful, enable more creative gameplay, and add additional strategic depth.

Does SMITE 2 have cross-play and cross-progression?

− Yes! SMITE 2 features cross-play and cross-progression across PC, SteamDeck, Xbox Series S|X, and PlayStation 5. When and Where Can I Play?

How do I unlock Gods in SMITE 2?

− In SMITE 2, every time you reach a new Account Level (Up to Level 50), you’ll get a God Token. You can spend that Token to unlock any God in the game, except for the most recently released update’s God. If you want all Gods (now and forever) unlocked instantly, you can buy any tier of the Founder’s Edition. Founder’s Edition owners will receive 100 Diamonds for every Account Level you achieve, up to Level 50, letting you earn up to 5,000 Diamonds – a $34.99 value, more than the $29.99 cost of the base Founder’s Edition.
