5 OP Comps To Play With URF - Challenger Guide

Hello! I'm Frobei and I've been Challenger multiple sets!

I climbed to 1070LP with URF during Set 9 and I'm currently playing at Challenger elo this legend on this cursed patch.

Playing URF involves specific gameplay so in this guide I'm going to give you 5 comps I'm aiming to play with URF and also a couple more in-depth optimizations you should apply to improve your odds of victory

First of all, it's extremely important to understand how to tailor your Tome of Trait at 2-1 so you can have a chance to receive a relevant emblem.

But I'll give you a small recap of the most important things to remember:

• Always have 6 OR 8 traits at stage 1-3 so you can use your tome of trait at 2-1 if you get it (6 traits => 1 tailored emblem and 8 traits => 2 tailored emblems)
• If you cannot have 6 traits at 1-3, use your Tome of Traits at stage 2-2 after you get them
• If you can, add units with Multicaster or Darkin on your board at 1-3 to increase odds of receiving other emblems. They count as a trait but you can't receive Darkin or Multicaster emblems.
• Always prioritize buying units with high-value emblems on stage 1. See the last section of this guide to see which units are the best for this meta
• Try to avoid "Branching Out" (URF silver augment at 2-1) because it's too random and can make you lose the game at 2-1

It's probably my favorite comp I want to play and I always hope to get a Noxus emblem at 2-1. Azir received a great buff with the b-patch and he absolutely slaps hard with Mordekaiser.

You can also play the old Cassio / Samira / Swain / Naafiri reroll with the Noxus emblem but I feel like it's riskier and not necessarily more rewarding.

Exodia comp: if you have 2 Noxus emblems you can aim for 9 Noxus and get your first place

Pro tips:

• Always be ready for a potential prismatic augment at stage 4-2 because URF's Grab Bag gives you a spatula and you can easily make another Noxus emblem
• If you don't have stuff for Azir then pick another side carry like Fiora or Kaisa and play Samira instead of Cassiopeia to unlock Challenger

If I have a Demacia emblem, I always try to play this comp with Mordekaiser and Quinn carry. I put the Tactician's Crown to show which units you want to be Elites: Mordekaiser (radiant Nashor's Tooth), Quinn (radiant Deathblade) and Jarvan (radiant Warmog).

If you can't build an RFC for Mordekaiser I can recommend you to build a Quicksilver so he can be immune to Crowd Control. If Mordekaiser is too contested you can try to play with Kaisa Demacia and Fiora carry instead. It's less powerful but it's better than a top 8 because you don't find any units!

Kayle reroll is another strong comp to play

Exodia comp: if you have 2 Demacia emblems you can aim for 9 Demacia and get your first place

Pro tips:

• You can build Fiora carry instead of Quinn if Quinn is too contested
• Always put Sona on same side as Mordekaiser and your other carries because she buffs their attack speed and this is essential to win fights

If you get only 1 Ionia emblem then the best comp you want to play is Ashe reroll. This is one of the rare 2 cost reroll comp you want to reroll at level 7 and not level 6. While the odds of finding Ashe and Sett at level 6 are higher, it's best to be level 7 to complete the 6 Ionia board so you don't lose 50 HP in 3 losses and it helps you buy the time needed to find your 3 star units.

Since the last Nilah nerfs, it's actually better to play around with one Ionia emblem. However if you have more than one emblem, then you should look for the next comp which is much much better (but harder to build)

Pro tips:

• Always be ready for a potential prismatic augment at stage 4-2 because URF's Grab Bag gives you a spatula and you can easily make another Noxus emblem
• Position Karma in frontline so she can die fast and she won't receive the Ionia Spirit Form buff.

This is the highest cap version of Ionia you can build (except for 9 Ionia) but it requires two emblems. It's achievable if you have a prismatic augment at 2-1 or at 4-2 which grants a spatula.

You can play Karma Vanquisher until you find Ahri but you can also try to make 3-star Karma

Exodia comp: if you have 2 Ionia emblems you can aim for 9 Ionia and get your first place

Pro tips:

• Don't prioritize items for Nilah, she became quite underwhelming in the Ionia setup

This is the comp you'd like to play if you get the Shurima emblem. However be careful because this comp requires many bows and Mordekaiser is often contested. It's also a comp I'd prefer to play with 2 Shurima emblems so I can remove Taliyah to have Jarvan instead and put the emblem on Aatrox

Exodia comp: if you have 2 Shurima emblems you can aim for 9 Shurima and get your first place.

Pro tips:

• Always be ready for a potential prismatic augment at stage 4-2 because URF's Grab Bag gives you a spatula and you can easily make another Shurima emblem
• It's not a comp you want to play if you are behind. Make sure to snowball your early game properly so you can push lvl 8 safely and roll for 4 cost and 5 cost units

With the comps above here are the full tier list of emblems you want to have at stage 2-1

• S-tier: Instant pick because they can make you snowball and allow you to play a strong late game comp (Piltover is different)
• A-tier: Bruiser to play Chogath reroll or 6 Bruiser Nilah, Bastion to play 8 Bastion Neeko reroll
• B-tier: They transform B tier comps into A tier comps but they are clearly not the best
• C-tier: To avoid most of the time unless you have the perfect spot to play comps
• D-tier: Don't pick them 99% of the time

Now that you know everything about the comps and emblems you want to get, here are the champions you want to field at stage 1-3 to optimize your chances of getting a good emblem at 2-1 with a Tome of Trait.

Remember to always have 6 traits the round before you use the Tome of Traits to have one tailored emblem and you can easily achieve 8 traits if you field 2 units with 3 traits.

Example: A board with Naafiri, Graves and Kayle at 1-3 will give you 8 traits so you will have 2 emblems offered among 7 available:

• Darkin (Naafiri) <= it's impossible to get a Darkin emblem
• Rogue (Graves)
• Gunner (Graves)
• Bilgewater (Graves)
• Shurima (Naafiri)
• Challenger (Naafiri)
• Demacia (Kayle)
• Slayer (Kayle)
