Key information about 6-Cost units
Mel - Banished Mage
Mel isn’t just a strong champion but also a potential “savior,” with the ability to keep you alive when defeat seems inevitable.
- Trait: Banished Mage
Banished Mage’s mechanic is intriguing: if Mel has used her ability 12 times in a match, she saves you from being eliminated and permanently gains 10% Damage Amp. This “clutch” mechanic makes her particularly appealing in high-stakes matches.
- Ability: Conduit of Magic
With only 0/40 mana, Mel can frequently use her skill. She grants herself and two nearby allies a large shield (300/600/10,000), while also dealing magic damage to nearby enemies. Every third cast, she unleashes Unstable Energy, dealing up to an astounding 99,999% Unleash Damage at level 3, making her a devastating presence on the battlefield.
- Verdict
Mel is best suited for compositions that thrive on extended battles, such as Mage or Sustain teams. Her ability to shield allies and deal burst damage makes her a versatile and powerful pick.
Warwick - Blood Hunter & Experiment
Warwick continues to embody the "unstoppable beast" archetype, bolstered by the synergy between Blood Hunter and Experiment traits.
- Traits: Blood Hunter, Experiment
Warwick becomes a true predator, finishing off enemies with less than 12% Health, healing himself, and gaining mana for continuous ability activations. His Experiment trait provides massive scaling bonuses when positioned on Laboratory Hexes, especially at the (7) trait breakpoint, where bonuses are doubled.
- Ability: Blood Hunt
Warwick’s ability makes him Bloodfrenzied, increasing movement speed, attack speed, omnivamp, and dealing damage over time. After killing 5 enemies, he becomes Unstoppable and retains this state for the rest of the combat. Additionally, he stuns enemies near his target upon a kill, further enhancing his crowd control capabilities.
- Verdict
Warwick is ideal for physical damage and attack-speed-focused compositions. Protecting him from hard crowd control or burst damage is key to his success. Recommended items include Runaan’s Hurricane, Bloodthirster, or Guinsoo’s Rageblade to maximize his potential.
Viktor - Machine Herald
One of the most unique champions in this set, Viktor converts all bonus stats into Ability Power, emphasizing pure spell damage.
- Trait: Machine Herald
Viktor has a fixed attack speed of 0.55 and converts all AD, AS, and Mana into AP. This trait allows players to build items like Giant Slayer or Spear of Shojin without wasting stats.
- Ability: Chaos Storm
Viktor’s ability provides exceptional battlefield-wide crowd control. Chaos Storm knocks up all enemies for 2 seconds, then slams them down, dealing a percentage of their Max Health as magic damage. Additionally, his basic attacks are replaced by Death Rays that deal both magic and true damage, applying Sunder and Shred debuffs.
- Verdict
Viktor fits perfectly into Mage or AP-heavy compositions, delivering wide-area crowd control and devastating damage. However, he relies on survivability to build up energy, making defensive items like Quicksilver or Bloodthirster valuable options.
How do I get Viktor, Mel and Warwick in TFT Set 13?
These special six-cost champions show up in shops like other champions; however, unlike the other costed champions, the level a player is doesn't entirely dictate how often they show up. For example, At level six, it's impossible to see five-cost champions; however, it is technically possible to see six-cost champions at level six. That is because six-cost champions have a flat rate they show up starting at stage 4-6. And that flat rate scales with the length of the game, not player level. This is in place so as not to give players shotgunning levels an advantage.
However, the one caveat to this rule is that at Level 10 the odds do increase which makes the goal of hitting Level 10 more viable.
The only other way players can obtain six-cost champions are through specific new Prismatic Augments and Prismatic orb drops.
When do Viktor, Mel and Warwick come out in TFT Set 13
Warwick, Mel and Viktor will be hitting live servers at the start of Patch 14.24 which is scheduled to release on Wednesday, December 11 and will also be legal to use for the TFT Macao Open.
Conclusion
Mel, Warwick, and Viktor are six-cost champions with immense carry potential.
- Mel acts as the ultimate "savior" in prolonged battles.
- Warwick becomes a devastating force of destruction that opponents must respect.
- Viktor provides unmatched crowd control and spell damage for AP-focused compositions.
