ECONOMY MANAGEMENT

Struggling to manage your gold in TFT? Do you often find yourself out of resources? unable to level up or hit key units? Don’t worry! This guide will cover the fundamentals of economy management, helping you balance risk and reward while optimizing your gold usage. While our Tempo guide focused on when to spend gold, this guide will teach you how to generate, preserve, and spend gold efficiently throughout the game.

ECONOMY PRINCIPLES

Early game economy is more important than late game. Since early rounds deal less damage, it’s often worth selling units to hit economy breakpoints, except in very specific cases. Gold scales exponentially due to interest. Every 1 gold saved in Stage 2 can snowball into 15+ gold later in the game. The Optimal Leveling Intervals we want to know are:

  • 2-1: Stay at level 3 if weak; or level to 4 if you can winstreak (through tempo items, 2-star units, or strong augments).
  • 2-5 we will have Two options: Level to 5 if you want to maintain HP, staying around 20-30 gold. Stay level 4 and lose-streak, reaching 40-50 gold instead.
  • 3-2: After the second augment, level up and roll if needed. If stable, stay above 30 gold; if u keep weak enough, drop to 20 gold at most.
  • 4-1: Level 7. With 40-50 gold, either slow roll for upgrades or do a full roll-down depending on the meta and the comp u want to play.
  • 5-1: Level 8 and roll to stabilize. By this point, you should have your core units at 2-star.
  • 6-1: Level 9 if possible to cap your board with legendaries or transition into a high-cost carry.

GOLD SAVING STRATEGIES

Hyper Econ: The same concept with Hyper Roll, but not just applied to the round* post-krugs,* instead focusing purely on saving gold until a **major power spike. ** Fast 8 or Fast 9: Prioritize leveling over rolling, only viable with the right items, augments, and HP cushion. Usually, level 8 at 4-2 and roll down for 4-cost 2-stars. If winstreaking hard, you might even skip rolling at 8 and go straight to level 9.

50 Gold Strategy: The standard economy strategy. Stay above 30-50 gold while only rolling or leveling when necessary. Avoid spending too early, as timing matters more than raw gold.

ADAPTING

Adapting to the Game will depends mainly on:

Reading the Lobby:

  1. Scouting often. See what comps are contested and adjust accordingly.
  2. Identify your win condition. If multiple players are contesting your carry consider pivoting or tracking how many copies are left in the pool.
  3. Balance combat power, economy, and utility. Raw strength is important, but so is ensuring you have enough gold for late-game pivots.

ALL IN VS SLOW ROLL

WHEN & WHICH

All in: Generally we want to do all in when:

  • The contested units are not too expensive for us to hit, like Scrap comp, where main carries Ekko and Corki are both 12 gold each. While other re-roll comps like Twisted Fate + Loris are** 27 gold** at 3-Star each.
  • We** lose** too much HP to stabilize our board.

Slow Roll: Generally it will depend in:

  • The cost of the units is** too high** to do all in and probably don't hit (Same example with 4 cost 2-Star or 3 cost 3-Star)
  • We have a lot of HP to Roll over 50 gold
