How to Play BoomBots — TFT Set 14: Cyber City
TFT BoomBots are a new trait in Set 14 that I am excited to see how they play out. They are unique in the fact that this is a 6 piece trait with only 5 units. This means that the trait will likely be powerful with a spat and reaching the 6 piece trait.
This also means that the trait likely has a lot of flexibility to play around in the early and mid game. The trait will likely have multiple options to play with it. I expect Divinicorp to be a potential splash into the comp as well as defense units such as Leona.

How TFT BoomBots Works
BoomBots Trait Bonus

BoomBots fire missiles for every 400 damage dealt at a nearby enemy that deals magic damage. 10 percent of the damage taken contributes to damage dealt.
- (2) 150 Magic Damage
- (4) 330 Magic Damage
- (6) Fire two missiles, each dealing 200 Magic Damage
BoomBots Synergy
Here are the additional traits of the BoomBots champions that give the opportunity to create trait webs:
- Kog’Maw (1G) – Rapidfire
- Skarner (2G) – Vanguard
- Fiddlesticks (3G) – Techie
- Cho’Gath (4G) – Bruiser
- Urgot (5G) – Executioner
The BoomBots Trait
BoomBots has 5 units but is a six piece trait, so it requires a spat to play the highest trait bonus. In the past, comps with this type of trait bonus require a spat to build around and if you don’t have a spat you might splash the trait into other comps if the units are good.
The trait has a 4 gold and 5 gold units which is often a good sign that you can build around it with a spat.
Because it relies on damage being dealt through missiles, it requires having a strong front line. So likely Vanguard and Bruiser will be splashed into the comp. Leona (4G) for Vangaurd and Kubuko (5G) for Bruiser. I expect Kubuko and Urgot to the primary 5 costs in this trait.
I also expect Vex who is an Executioner and Divinicorp to go with Urgot to go into this comp. This opens the door to splashing Divinicorps into the comp potentially as well.
TFT BoomBots Champions
Kog’Maw (1G) – Rapidfire
Kog’Maw is a damage dealer who has an ability to gain additional attack speed and bonus (AD) physical damage with his ability.
He is a Rapidfire unit who gains even more attack speed with this trait. His Rapidfire trait makes Zeri an excellent splash into the Boombot comp to play as a carry.
Skarner (2G) – Vanguard
Skarmer gains (AP) Shield for 3 seconds and makes a missile. When the shield ends, the missile hurls at a group of the most enemies and deals damage (Armor) magic damage to the centermost enemy and a percent damage to the enemies next to it.
This along with the Vanguard trait makes Skarner a strong early game tank that does a mix of damage while tanking. The Vanguard trait also has multiple splashable units in it such as Leona that has good synergy with any comp.
Fiddlesticks (3G) – Techie
Fiddlesticks theaters to the closest 3 enemies, dealing AP magic damage per second split between them for a few seconds. The tethers apply a percent shred and heals Fiddlesticks for a small percent of damage dealt.
Techies have additional AP and enemies hit by their abilities reduce the damage of the enemies hit. This gives Fiddlesticks additional utility especially against melee carries. There might be some positioning choices that allows Fiddlesticks to hit carries early on in a fight and reduce their damage which can cause a big swing in some fights.
Cho’Gath (4G) – Bruiser
Cho’Gath fires a disorienting sound blast in a cone, dealing (AP & Health) magic damage while gaining (AP & Health) max health, get bigger, and increases the size of future sound blasts.
This makes getting an early game Cho’Gath a scaling champion so finding him early can be useful on top of 2 starring him early. He is also a Bruiser which means he has the ability to gain a ton of Health.
Urgot (5G) – Executioner
Urgot takes executioner to a whole new meaning as his ability allows him to gain Attack Speed and locks onto the lowest percent health enemy within range. His attacks also fire 3 rockets, each dealing additional AD damage.
Each cast the first time a locked on enemy falls beneath 0.15% health, he reels them in and executes them while grinding them into parts. Executioner also gives him the ability to critically strike with critical strike multiplier.
This means that Vex is also likely thrown onto this board to give Urgot Executioner and Vex is a Divinicorp. If Divinicorp is strong, then it is likely the trait that gets added to the Boombot board.
