How to Play Cyberboss — TFT Set 14: Cyber City

TFT Cyberboss brings a lot of the champions you would expect from the name such as Veigar in Set 14. However, it brings Kubuko with a new skin and new abilities!

Kubuko is one of the coolest 5 cost units of the set and benefits the most from this trait, so I expect Cyberboss to be a staple in the meta as long as Kubuko is good. However, it also has two 4 costs Ziggs and Xayah which I also expect to be staples in the comp as well.

Explore all of the new Set 14 traits here!

How TFT Cyberboss Works

Cyberboss Trait Bonus

Your strongest Cyberboss upgrades to its final form and gains Health, Ability Power, and the ability hits more enemies.

  • (2) 18% Health, 15 AP
  • (3) 25% Health, 25 AP
  • (4) All Cyberbosses upgrade. Your strongest Cyberboss instead gets 33% Health and 30 AP

Cyberboss Synergy

Here are the additional traits of the Cyberboss champions that give the opportunity to create trait webs:

  • Poppy (1G) – Bastion
  • Veigar (2G) – Techie
  • Ziggs (4G) – Strategist
  • Xayah (4G) – Marksman
  • Kobuko (5G) – Bruiser

The Cyberboss Trait

Cyberboss is unique in that it has 5 units but the trait caps out at a trait bonus of only 4 units. This means that there is a lot of flexibility between the units and what can be splashed for this trait.

A unique thing about this trait is that every one of the units does (AP) magic damage except for one, Xayah who is AD damage. This means that 4 of them can become the main boss as well as they all benefit from the 4 piece trait.

Personally, I am really hoping to see a mega Poppy that one shots units with her buckler ability as we have seen Poppy do similar things in the past sets.

Kobuko likely becomes the ideal carry of this comp as this is his main trait that allows him to be strong and get going.

Ziggs and Xayah are two 4 cost units in this comp. That is important to note as it means that this comp has a lot of high cost, valuable units which often leads to comps with a higher cap as a whole.

TFT Cyberboss Champions

Poppy (1G) – Bastion

Poppy joins the Cyberbosses with her ability Buckler Toss where she throws a buckler to the furthest enemy within 4 hexes and deals (Armor & AP) magic damage and gains an AP based shield.

I expect 3 star poppy becoming a Cyberboss in some builds where with the proper positioning she throws her buckler to one shot an unsuspecting backrow carry. While there will be some counter positioning, I expect there to be some cat and mouse positioning for Poppy if this becomes a viable build. If this build isn’t viable, Poppy may be used for the trait due to her Bastion trait.

Veigar (2G) – Techie

Veigar deals big (AP) magic damage to the current target and a smaller amount of (AP) magic damage to adjacent enemies. If Veigar is the same star level as the target, he deals a small percent of additional true damage. If Veigar is a higher star level, he deals even more percent true damage. This makes Veigar a primary target for rerolling as well as making him the Cyberboss.

He has often been a one target carry in multiple sets and has hinged on being able to one shot units as his weakness is getting stuck on a single tanky unit. He has a low mana pool, so I expect him to make lots of casts. I also expect if Veigar is the carry for multiple Techies to be splashed into the comp to help out his AP.

Ziggs (4G) – Strategist

Ziggs throws a bomb that hits the most enemies in a whole row and column within attack range, dealing (AP) magic damage to enemies within 1 hex of the center and (AP) magic damage to enemies further away. This makes him do the most damage to units in the front rows while splashing the back row with damage too.

He is also a Strategist which means in the back row he gains additional damage amp. The downside is that there are no 5 cost strategists which makes it less likely to play around Ziggs in this trait unless he is strong in the patch.

Kobuko (5G) – Bruiser

Kobuko is one of the coolest 5 costs in the set as his passive allows him to attack (AP) bonus magic damage. At a certain percent of health, he gains a shield which decays, 1% attack speed, Omnivamp, and 100 mana. His active briefly gains Durability then he picks up a nearby enemy knocking up all enemies within 2 hexes for 1.5 seconds.

Then he slams down dealing (AP) magic damage to the target and a percent of the target’s max health as magic damage to all enemies hit.

His utility among with percent max health damage makes him a prime late game carry and a unit that most boards will want. On top of being able to become the Cyberboss, he will be a core piece of this comp!
