How to Play Dynamo — TFT Set 14: Cyber City

Welcome to our trait guide, where we’ll be covering the Dynamo trait in the new TFT Set 14: Cyber City. In this guide, we’ll explain how Dynamo works, cover the different champions, and give a quick rundown of the other potential traits you could branch into.

Explore all of the new Set 14 traits here!

How TFT Dynamo Works

Dynamo Trait Bonus

Champions: Morgana 1g / Jhin 2g / Elise 3g / Miss Fortune 4g / Aurora 5g

Every 3 seconds, your team gains Mana. Dynamos gain 100% more.

  • (2) 5 Mana

  • (3) 8 Mana

  • (4) 12 Mana

Dynamo grants your team passive Mana regeneration that is applied every three seconds. This is especially nice for comps with spellcasters that rely on their abilities, and only requires two pieces to enable it. While this is more beneficial for some strategies over others, having a Dynamo pair could be well worth it assuming they fit the rest of your team. After all, Dynamos get twice the value.

2. Dynamo Synergy

Here’s a rundown of the traits you can branch into from Dynamo:

  • Morgana – Divinicorp

  • Jhin – Exotech / Marksman

  • Elise – Nitro

  • Miss Fortune – Syndicate

  • Aurora – Anima Squad

While there isn’t any overlap between Dynamo units, what’s great about the trait is the way it scales. With benefits at 2/3/4, you’ll always get something extra each time you add another one, with the exception of having all five (which could lead to a rather squishy team).

TFT Dynamo Champions

Morgana Divinicorp Dynamo 1g

Morgana’s ability Short Circuit hacks the target and the nearest non-hacked enemy, applying magic DoT (damage over time) to both of them. Overall a pretty basic ability appropriate for a 1-cost AP caster.

However, what actually makes Morgana unique is her Divinicorp trait. This grants Ability Power to your entire team which coincides well with Dynamo, giving Morgana some extra utility if you decide to keep her throughout the game.

Jhin Exotech Marksman Dynamo 2g

Jhin is a 2-cost, three trait unit with excellent utility. His Logic Bomb is a grenade that bounces and hits four enemies, dealing physical damage and Sundering them for a duration before returning to strike the initial target for even more damage.

Having the combination of Exotech and Dynamo allows Jhin to cast even faster, as Exotech items inherently increase Attack Speed via the trait bonus, while Dynamo adds passive Mana regeneration.

Elise Nitro Dynamo 3g

Elise’s ability, Fire on all Cylinders, sends four laser beams a her target, plus four more split between the nearest two enemies. While each beam does a smaller amount of magic damage (understandably given the quantity), they also reduce the Magic Resist of enemy enemies hit for the entire combat.

Dynamo naturally makes sense with Elise’s ability since it helps fuel her team’s Mana, which is very useful for AP casters who are ready to capitalize on the MR reduction.

Miss Fortune Syndicate Dynamo 4g

Miss Fortune deals physical damage by shooting eight waves of bullets towards the largest cluster of enemies. This takes place over two seconds, and enemies struck take less damage from additional bullets of the same wave.

This is a pretty big burst of AoE Attack Damage that gets even bigger with a Kingpin bonus, but it comes with a pretty high Mana cost. Thankfully Dynamo can help accelerate the timer.

Aurora Anima Squad Dynamo 5g

Aurora’s Pierce the Veil is a very unusual ability. When first cast, it swaps Aurora with the left-most champion on your bench, taking her out of the arena. The swapped in champion receives an Attack Speed buff that scales based on Aurora’s AP, empowering them as they join the fray.

All throughout, Aurora will still continue fighting from the bench until the swapped-in champion dies. Then she teleports to wherever strikes the most lined up enemies, dealing a burst of magic damage to them. With this ability Aurora can stay safe and carry from a distance, making her very unique among casters.
