How to Play Exotech — TFT Set 14: Cyber City

Exotech is a vertical trait in Set 14 featuring 7 champions. For each increment, a unique item that can only be equipped on Exotech champions appears. This makes it important for you to check what the Exotech item is each match as what it is can change what you decide to play that game and which champion to carry.

Explore all of the new Set 14 traits here!

How TFT Exotech Works

Exotech Trait Bonus

Gain unique items that can only be equipped by Exotech champions. They gain Health and Attack Speed for each item equipped.

  • (3) 30 Health, 2% Attack Speed
  • (5) 110 Health, 3% Attack Speed
  • (7) 200 Health, 7% Attack Speed
  • (10) 500 Health, 40% Attack Speed, and ALL Exotech Items

Exotech Synergy

Here are the additional traits of the Exotech champions that give the opportunity to create trait webs:

  • Jax (1G) – Bastion
  • Jhin (2G) – Marksman + Dynamo
  • Naafiri (2G) – A.M.P.
  • Mordekaiser (3G) – Bruiser + Techie
  • Varus (3G) – Executioner
  • Sejuani (4G) – Bastion
  • Zeri (4G) – Rapidfire

The Exotech Trait

Exotech will likely be a common vertical trait of Set 14. With a variety of champions to choose from it allows for easy trait synergies. The biggest downside of the trait is that there are no 5 gold champions which sometimes means that the cap of the comp isn’t as high as you’d want. It also means that there is a possibility that a 3 cost reroll between Mordekaiser and Varus is possible.

TFT Exotech Champions

Jax (1G) – Bastion

Jax gains an Ion Barrier (AP) shield for 4 seconds and deals (AP) magic damage to adjacent enemies. As a one cost Bastion Jax may see play to tie into the Bastion trait with Sejuani. On top of providing front line to Exotech teams.

Jhin (2G) – Marksman + Dynamo

Jhin fires a bouncing grenade that hits four enemies dealing 1.44 (AD) physical damage and sundering them for (AP) seconds. The fourth bounce returns to the initial target and deals 3.84 (AD) physical damage.

His traits, Marksman and Dynamo, will often make him be seen on late game boards as Dynamo gives mana to the team.

Naafiri (2G) – A.M.P.

Naafiri has a passive which she gains (AP) Omnivamp. Her active is to deal (AD) physical damage to the current target.

Then she summons packmates that deal (AD) physical damage and Alphas that deal additional (AD) physical damage to their current target. Naafiri’s A.M.P. Trait isn’t one I expect to be splashed in full vertical Exotech very often.

Mordekaiser (3G) – Bruiser + Techie

Mordekaiser has two great traits: Bruiser and Techie. This gives him utility through additional health to the team on top of when he does damage he reduces the damage of the opposing damage.

His ability, Antivirus, allows him to gain (AP) shield for 4 seconds, slam the current target dealing (AP) magic damage in a 2-hex line and stun all enemies hit.

Varus (3G) – Executioner

Varus is an executioner with the ability Malware Chain. Malware Chain fires a chain that deal (AP) magic damage and stuns for 1 second.

The chian links to the 3 closest enemies dealing (AP) magic damage to each. With this ability and utility it wouldn’t surprise me if Varus was a rerollable champion in set 14.

Sejuani (4G) – Bastion

Sejuani is a Bastion that synergies naturally with the Bastion Jax in the comp. Her ability Blue Screen. The passive is she gains Armor and Magic Resistance from all sources.

Her active is to throw an EMP at the closest enemy that explodes after 2 seconds. It deals (AP) magic damage to enemies within 3 hexes and stuns them for a few seconds.

This makes Sejuani a great utility unit due to her stun and she will see play on almost all Exotech boards and Bastion boards.

Zeri (4G) – Rapidfire

Zeri is the final unit of Exotech and she is a damage dealer aided by her Rapidfire trait. Her ability allows her to dash to a nearby location so quickly an untargetable echo lingers. The echo attacks (AD & AS) as if it were Zeri, but deals a percent less damage. Echos last based on (AP) seconds.

If comps do not play around rerolling 3 costs, then likely Zeri and Sejuani will become the main pieces of the comp.
