Recently, NA caster Hopkins announced that Riot Games has officially introduced the 4v4 format as one of the main competitive modes for TFT Esports. Following this announcement, the TorontoTFT's 4v4 Sub-Regional tournament opened for registration.
The tournament will take place from February 24–26, 2025, and only players from the NA region (North America) are eligible to participate.
- The championship team will receive $1,750 and a ticket to the AMER Regional Tactics Cup #2.
- The runner-up team will receive $1,250 and a spot in the qualifiers for the Tactical Tactics Challenge #2.
Currently, registration is open, and up to 128 teams can participate.
Q&A About the Tournament
Q: How will teams be selected to participate?
A: Snapshots will be taken on January 21 and 23. The total rank points of all four players in each team will be summed up, and teams will be selected based on ranking from highest to lowest. However, only 2/3 of the slots will be allocated this way (e.g., in a 64-slot format, 44 slots will go to teams with high rank points, and the remaining 20 slots will be randomly assigned).
Q: Can we have a substitute player?
A: Yes. Here are the rules regarding substitutes:
- The substitute must have a lower rank than the four main players on the team.
- The four main players must compete until the third day of the tournament.
- Each player must participate in at least one full day of competition.
- The substitute player cannot participate in the qualifiers (this rule will be clarified further).
- Violations of these rules will result in team disqualification.
COMPETITION FORMAT (64 TEAMS)
- Results will be based on the total points accumulated by each team.
- If two teams have the same points, the team with the player who secured first place in a game will win.
- For BO3 matches, points will not be counted.
- Day 1: Group Stage
- Each group consists of 4 teams. They will play a double round-robin format with BO1 matches. The top 2 teams from each group will advance.
- The top 2 teams from each group will then be re-seeded into new groups for another single round-robin stage with BO1 matches.
- Day 2: Swiss Format
The 16 teams advancing from Day 1 will compete in 5 total matches:
- The first 3 matches will be BO1.
- The final 2 matches will be BO2.
- Day 3: Playoffs
- Based on the results from Day 2, teams will be seeded and paired for the knockout stage.
- The quarterfinals and semifinals will be BO2.
- The finals and third-place match will be BO3.
