As 2025 approaches, the competitive TFT season is wrapping up. Highlights: What’s Coming to Teamfight Tactics in 2025

Here’s a snapshot of the key features and updates planned for TFT in 2025, with deeper insights into each topic below:

  • 3 Set Revivals
  • 3 New Sets: Set 14, Set 15, and Set 16
  • "Double Up" Mode Overhaul
  • A New PvE Game Mode
  • The 2025 TFT Paris Open

Revisiting Iconic Sets in 2025

Each TFT set introduces a fresh theme, a unique Champion pool, and a competitive Ranked season. Typically, sets run for about four months, meaning three sets are released annually.

For 2025, Riot Games is embracing nostalgia with several Set Revivals, bringing back some beloved TFT experiences. Developers have confirmed there will be three Set Revivals throughout the year.

The first revival of 2025 will reintroduce the Fates: Festival of Beasts Set, originally launched in January 2021. This Lunar New Year-themed set features elements inspired by East Asian culture and mythology. It also incorporates designs from League of Legends skin lines, such as Blood Moon, Spirit Blossom, and Warring Kingdoms.

Brand-New TFT Sets: Set 14, 15, and 16

In addition to revisiting classic sets, the 2025 season will debut three entirely new ones:

  1. Set 14: Launching in March 2025, this set is expected to have a Cyberpunk aesthetic, showcasing a futuristic Cyber City with vibrant neon colors like blue, magenta, and purple.

  2. Set 15: Arriving in July 2025, this anime-themed set appears to revolve around a high-energy fighting tournament. Speculation suggests it may tie into Riot’s upcoming fighting game 2XKO, which is set in the Runeterra universe and slated for a 2025 release.

  3. Set 16: Slated for Winter 2025, the final set of the year will reconnect TFT with Runeterra, though specific details remain under wraps.

New PvE Game Mode

TFT players can look forward to a brand-new Player versus Environment (PvE) mode in 2025. This mode, arriving in the summer as part of Set 14 or Set 15, will pit players against computer-controlled enemies in a unique challenge.

While details are scarce, the mode is expected to retain the auto-battler mechanics central to TFT. However, it remains unclear whether it will support multiplayer gameplay or adhere to the standard eight-player format.

A Revamped "Double Up" Mode and Custom Lobbies

Another nostalgic feature returning in 2025 is a refreshed version of the Double Up mode, first introduced in 2021. The revamped mode will debut in Spring 2025, alongside updates to custom lobbies.

In the original Double Up, players could queue solo or with a partner, sharing health and gifting items via the Assist Armory. The updated version is expected to retain these features while introducing new mechanics to enhance the experience.

The 2025 TFT Paris Open

The TFT Open, the crown jewel of the competitive season, returns in 2025 with a new location. Following the success of the 2024 Macao Open — where Chinese player Shiquz claimed victory and a $100,000 prize — the 2025 Open will take place in Paris.

Scheduled for December 2025, details about the tournament’s format and exact dates are yet to be announced. More updates are expected as the competitive season unfolds.
